ACT II

“I presumed this all the doing of my father. You should had known better and informed me,” I flashed my secretary my usual all business look. There’s no doubt I am disappointed in him for not informing me about this matter first hand.

Jackson shortly nods, “As well as your grand mother.” He added afterwards. I gasped.

“Cancel all my appointments!” I snapped. This is getting on my nerves and they better had good explanation about this.

                “But madam—“

“No buts, Jackson!” I interjected. I grabbed my Lacoste green clutch and Marc Jacobs blazer, and prepared to leave. Jackson tried to stop me at the door but just like before I ignored him. He immediately gave up. He knows my temper. He wouldn’t want to be eaten by my dragon self.

I walked pass my whispering employees, ignoring their pleasantries. They, as well knows that my glare and creased forehead indicates that I am in a bad mood.

DAVID placed his drivers’ hat on his chest and bowed as a sign of greeting. I nod back before mounting the red Ford. “Saan po tayo?” He asked in the moment I was comfortably seated.

David is an 18-year-old homeless boy whom I met during a stroll at a park. I felt sympathy for him as to why I arranged for him to be my personal driver. I occasionally teach him when I have free time. It is also his decision not to go to school and I had no other choice but just to support that decision. “Sa Ancestral House,” my mother’s mother, my Abuela, lives there. Anastacia Bautista deserves my visit for the first time over the past two years since I came back from L.A. This will also be the first time she meddles in my life in conspiracy with my father.

“Bakit mainit na naman ang ulo mo, Ate Syd?” David suddenly asks bringing me back from my reverie.

“Don’t mind me David. May nalaman lang akong hindi maganda…” I forced a smile to put him at ease. Growing in the streets at a young age made him sensitive about others feelings and interests.

“Gusto mo ate ibili nalang kita ng favorite mong Kape?” Ah, this kid really knows my weakness, this time I flashed him a genuine smile.

“Good idea… Ang mabuti pa idaan mo muna ako sa Starcoffee at ako na ang bibili. Ibibili na rin kita ng favorite mong shortcake,” he gladly obliged.

He dropped me off the usual coffee shop and like any other ordinary customer I stand at the end of the line forming before the counter. To the annoyance of the next customer behind me, a staff approaches me. Being a regular customer and well known, they always put me on top of the order list.

“The usual madam?” the girl standing before me with a name tag ‘Amy’ asks. I nod, “And one chocolate shortcake.” The lady behind me gave me a scowl. I look politely at her. I won’t lose my cool in front of a no one.

“Madam, if you’ll just wait on this table,” Amy guided me on my usual spot much to the dismay of the lady behind me.

I gave Amy the usual tip when she handed me my orders. I was about to exit the coffee shop when my nose bump into a broad chest. “OW!” that really hurt.

My glare was met by a hairy man towering over me.
