ACT VII
"I had long loved you... But I had loved a different girl, a girl from your brother's stories. A sweet innocent girl and not this cold stern looking standing before my eyes..."
I staggered at my feet. Complete silence had fallen between us for a moment. After the death of my brother I had become a different person. I am no longer that sweet girl my brother used to know. After his death my father begun to train me so that in the future I will be capable of replacing his position in the business industry.
I didn’t notice the tears rushing down my cheeks until a warm hand wipes them, caressing my soft cheeks. “Tell me how I can bring that lady back?” he murmurs in my ears while gently hugging me. I snuggled closely, asking for comfort and relief.
I can feel the little kisses on top of my head but I didn’t even flinch. All I care about is the nice feeling he was giving me.
“Teach me how to love…” I finally breathed out.
He looked at me in awe as if not sure if he heard it right. “Tell me what you said again…” he urged and I almost choke in embarrassment. “Teach me how to love…” I repeated louder this time.
“I will, Sweet!” he planted a kiss on my forehead.
“Wait—“I put my hands on his chest creating space between us, “I mean let’s start back at phase one. You know, getting to know each other?” he furrowed his eyebrows as if confused at what I had uttered. Then he chuckled.
“For a woman who spends most of her life in L.A. you’re too conservative!”
“What?” I flushed when the idea sinks in. He thought what I said ‘Teach me how to love’ is an initiation of making love. This moron!
How can I be stupid for even thinking I can trust him? “You! How can you even think about that? Get out of my room!” I screamed in rage. But he just stands there grinning at me like an idiot. ‘I have loved you long before…’ how can I even fall for that?
“Quit staring. Get out of my room!” I snarled. He raised his hands up in defeat.
“Get ready in 30 minutes you’re wasting my precious time,” he said without looking at me before completely leaving my room.
Huh, precious my ass!
I emerged out of my room a little over after one hour. I would make it my mission to piss off this man.
As expected I found him waiting at the sala impatiently. He shot me a death glare and if looks can kill I would have been buried 6 feet under where I am standing. I just stared at him with my eyebrows raised. I would not and would not and would never give in.
“Maya!” my personal maid immediately step towards me. “Yes, Young Lady?”
“Call Jackson and tell him to cancel all my appointments for the day,” I ordered enough for Gilbert to hear so that he’ll know he’s ruining my schedule. “Actually, change that tell Jackson to cancel all of my activities for the rest of the week and have those rescheduled. My hands will be busy handling over some fly!” I smirked when he shot me another death glare obviously annoyed at my last line.
Yeah, he’s definitely a fly—some random fly who keeps on ruining my day. “What now?” I asked standing in front of where he was seated.
He crossed his legs and carefully studied my appearance. Hah! I roll my eyeballs as if to say, ‘What the hell?’ All the while he keeps on murmuring “Tsk tsk tsk…” as if I’m not around and cannot hear him.
“Change your clothes and wear a damn rubber shoes!” he commanded as if he’s my dad that I’ll immediately obey.
I ignored his order to his disappointment. If he can be arrogant then I can be hard headed. ‘Yeah, he had loved a different girl… I am not sweet and innocent anymore and he cannot bring that girl back from the grave!’ Period!
“Fine! Be stubborn… tignan natin who will win at the end,” he gave me an annoyed look and like some childish girl I stuck out my tongue at him.
“You’re hopeless,” he uttered shaking his head while walking out of the mansion.
“Hey, where are we going?” I followed as he briskly walked towards he’s car, which may I say is beautiful.
He didn’t answer my question instead he stop in front of his car. He turned to look at me, breathing out a sigh. He patted his car and paused. When I thought that I’m gonna grow roots at where I’m standing he finally spoke. “Meet Syd…”
“Who?”
“Syd… my car. I named her after you, you know.”
He named a car after me? Is this some sick joke? Who is he kidding? What kind of sane man would name his car? He’s definitely insane.
I let out a giggle. He shot me an exasperated look. “You’re kidding, right?”
To my dismay, he shakes his head to say no. “You know what… just hop in and forget you ever meet Syd.” He shot me another death glare before mounting his ‘Syd’. I let out another giggle before letting myself in the passenger seat. There’s no doubt that he’s pissed, oh joy!
