Chapter 9
"You've got to be fucking kidding me." I rolled my eyes, stepping away from the frozen Lycan in front of me. He wasn't frozen out of fear, I knew that much. Lykos was never one to be fearful, only feared by those who dared to cross his path. Now there had to be a weapon around here somewhere...
Abruptly, Lykos moved away from his desk, and over to one of the bookshelves on the left side of the room. He pulled one of the books, the resounding click of a gear echoing before the bookshelf moved back and slid behind the one next to it. There hung guns, bullets, knives, grenades, anything sharp or explosive lined on the wall.
"Well damn." I said in awe, my jaw unhinged by the extensive amount of weaponry there was. The fact that it was hidden perfectly was even more astonishing. Well...at least I know where stuff is hidden.
He grabbed a gun holster, securing it around his hips before grabbing a selection from the wall. Raising a brow, I stepped forward until I was right beside him, reaching out to grab a knife but was stopped when Lykos turned his head to mine. "What do you think you're doing?" He asked, loading a 22 caliber long rifle.
"Grabbing a machete." I reached out again, but he pushed by arm away and turned towards me fully.
Lykos narrowed his eyes, challenging. "You're not coming."
"I am." I narrowed my eyes back, the recollection that we were practically dry humping on his desk like two animals in heat made me frown. "You think that because of what just happened less than five minutes ago means that you own me?"
"I owned you before any of that. Now, I don't have time for this. You're staying and tha--" He was cut off by an explosion, followed by screams and the rustle and bustle of women and children scurrying to shelter. We were crouched down, hands over our heads as my blood ran cold with adrenaline. I needed to kill something without the help of Lykos, I needed to get rid of all of this pent up anger and pain that I was feeling.
And I'd do that the only way I knew how.
"Where are my wrist blades?" I asked, hoping that the expression on my face showed how much I needed to fight whatever monsters were out there. He stood up and I followed, he opened up one of the drawers that were in the same space as the weaponry wall, shoving my beloved never-again-to-be-departed retractable knives in my hands. I grinned in thanks, immediately tying the contraptions around my wrists and forearms before following Lykos out the door.
Before we left the security of the palace-like building, we stopped in front of the two grand scale doors. "You do whatever you can to stay alive. Okay? If I see you running away from this place, I won't hesitate to drag you back here and lock you up."
I rolled my eyes. "Pssh. Please. I know what I'm doing. Though it would've been a hell of a lot easier if I had all my stuff back."
"I swear to god, Serenity. If you ev--"
"Yeah, yeah. I know. Don't run off." I mocked, pushing open the double doors and into the drizzle of death and rain.
I ran, Lykos catching up to me in a matter of seconds as we ran towards the fight. We arrived in a clearing in the woods, the stench of blood and death swirling in the air, it was almost intoxicating. Wolves fought against wolves, others in their human form and fighting against each other. The adrenaline and sight of danger excited me, it being what made me run and charge into battle.
A wolf caught sight of me, charging towards me like an angry bull. I ran faster. Both of us jumped, the wolf snapping its jaw with razor sharp teeth, claws attacking the air. It missed. I had managed to jump higher, turning my body to face the floor, landing atop the rogue beast with the wind having been knocked out of me. It started to growl wildly, shaking and swerving it's body like it was trying to shake me off.
I took the opportunity to retract the blades, sinking them into it's pulsing fury neck. It squealed in agony, blood spurting from its neck like a water fountain, coating my arms, dotting my face. I pushed the blades in further, twisting the silver metal until the resounding snap of bones and tendons crackled in my ears. With another quick twist of my wrists, and a howl of death, the head started to detach from its body, the blood pouring out of the revealed flesh.
The body dropped to the floor, collapsing onto it's side as another wolf ran straight into my side. I yelped, unexpectant, being rammed into a tree until I felt the bark begin to draw blood. Gritting my teeth together, my throat rumbled animalistically as I pushed against it's paws. There gave me the chance to duck and roll off to the side onto the floor; but clearly it was already expected.
They pounced on me, it's claws swiping across my chest in an almighty gash. I cried out in pain, but the adrenaline refused me to linger on it for long. I was able to bring one of my legs up, kicking it in the stomach and away by a few metres. Jumping to my feet, I held my arms at my sides, preparing for when the grey coated wolf would attack.
When it did, I held my arms up as it jumped, feeling the penetration and sizzle of my blades through its skin and muscles. Now having the upperhand, I began to pull my arms down, ripping the beast open from the throat down. Blood ran like a waterfall, sticking and clumping my hair together, filling up my mouth until I began to gag.
I felt a sharp pain in my side, making me fall down alongside the dead wolf. What the...fuck?
Heaving in breaths, I looked down to my side, seeing no injury or nothing out of the ordinary. I needed to get up. So that's what I did; even though it hurt like a bitch.
After finally being able to stand up on my own two feet, my head started to pound and body started to shake uncontrollably. Looking around, the fight was still going on, though now it looked like Lykos' pack was in control, brutally slaughtering it's enemy without a second of hesitation until there was only a few left.
I started to walk. Each step felt like a stab to the heart.
I kept trying to look around, searching for something. And when my eyes landed on a huge wolf, its fur the colour of midnight, a raven, and eyes swirling with fury, hatred, brutality. That was when I knew there was no turning back. No escape.
He was against another large wolf, one with dark brown fur that was matted with clumps of blood. It looked like neither one of them was going to be giving up any time soon.
Seems like it's time for me to intervene.
I decided to upload this since I know there's no chance of me creating anymore chapters in the near future. I'm sorry to those who wished for me to continue this book but I honestly feel as though I've lost the inspiration for it. So here I'm going to leave this book in it's (unfortunate) glory. Though if you have any comments for characters and the plot or whatever feel free to ask.
Thank you all for those who have supported me!
Any comments, questions or concerns feel free to leave a comment, pm me or post on my wall and I'll try to answer asap.
