My eyes shot open when I heard banging on my door. I lifted my body up from the bed jumped out of the comfortable mattress. I fixed my hair a bit and opened the door. Ryan, one of the trainers in the facility, looked panicked and has something urgent to say.
"Agent 01, there has been an attack at the northwest borderline of our territory, Sir Falcov has requested your presence at the borderline to guide our defense line." he said in one breath.
"I'm going" I said as I took the gloves, mask, and hair tie that laid on top of my dresser. I rushed out of the room and slammed the door that concealed my room from the outside world.
I rushed down the stairs, jumping on the steps to buy me more time. I reached the underground in a record time and started the car with the keys I kept in my pocket. I pushed the button to open the ramp that will be my escape from the facility. The ramp appeared and I sped out of the facility parking and to the northwest side of our territory.
I parked my car 80 meters from the borderline to avoid making my presence known. I got out the car and locked my car. I wore my mask to cover my identity, my gloves to hinder my fingerprints and tied my hair up to avoid distractions while in battle.
I ran the distance from my car to the line of defense the Renegades had. There stood in front of me, about 50 people with guns and complete uniform and protective gear that might just save their lives.
They were shooting at the troops the government sent to infiltrate our underground facility. These soldiers don't even know what they were really fighting for yet here they are, throwing their lives away for a battle that was never theirs.
I snapped out of my trance as one of them threw a bomb at us. The explosive device went off but my troops already took cover but still continued to fire at the soldiers.
One by one, each soldier fell down in a heap at the ground. Their chests soaked in blood and covered with dirt. The light in their eyes left as they struggled to make their last moments in this world worth it as they remember about their loved ones. I know that for a fact as a lot of my close-to-death men told me about it.
The soldiers managed to shoot 4 of my troops in the head. All of them dropping to the ground, dead. I detached myself from the tree I am hiding from, I crouched towards the wall that protected my troops from being bullet-ridden.
I took the gun of one of our fallen defenders and started firing at every US soldier I see. After running out of bullets, I took a grenade from my pocket, removed the top and threw it at them.
"TAKE COVER!!" I heard one of the soldiers say but alas, it was too late, the grenade detonated and killed almost everyone not protected by the indestructible wall. After the smoke cleared, I finally saw the damage the grenade did. Lifeless burnt bodies scattered the earthy forest soil. Blood was splattered everywhere, every single soldier near the blast area was unrecognizable due to being burnt so bad.
I felt a slight twinge of guilt and remorse as I inspected the casualties but then brushed it off, they killed and harmed my brothers and sisters in the Renegades. Even if they don't know what they were fighting for, they hurt my people and therefor, they must pay.
"RETREAT!!" I heard one of the surviving soldiers say. He knew that they were going to lose. The lucky soldiers who managed to survive the blast, ran away to return to their vehicles.
I stopped my men from firing, sparing the lives of a few lucky soldiers. "Agent 01, we are very grateful you are here. Thank you" said one of my men, relief clouding his voice.
"You are welcome" I said while giving all of them a small, encouraging smile. I may be seen as cold and unforgiving monster, but I am not heartless. I still pity the ones forced to go to battle and the ones who chose to go to battle and is aware of the possibility of him not seeing the daylight of tomorrow.
"Patrol the area and check for more intruders. Eliminate anyone who tries to infiltrate the grounds without leader's permission" I commanded them, being back to my old self, the hard-hearted and unsympathetic Agent 01.
"Roger that, Agent 01" said the same person who thanked me. I assume he is the troop leader.
"I'll go back to headquarters and report the events to Dawson. Good day." I said and turned my heel to walk to my car that was parked around 80 meters from the site of attack.
I reached my car after a couple minutes of speed-walking. I inspected my vehicle from any damage only to discover that my wheels have been punctured. I inspected my surroundings, the twigs I ran over are too small and fragile to make a hole on the wheels this big. I took out my phone and called Gneiss.
After a few rings, he picked up and said in a groggily voice "What are you doing? It's 6 in the morning?" I checked my watch and he was correct. The hands of my watch pointed to 6 and 12.
"Gneiss, I'm at the northwest side of the territory. Someone punctured my tires and I need a ride back to headquarters. I'm currently investi-" a large 'BANG' interrupted my sentence and the phone I'm gripping flew off my hand.
The mobile device I used to communicate with Gneiss lay on the forest ground with a large gaping hole at its side. Someone tried to shoot me.
I went on attack mode and changed my stance to an aggressive one. My hands found its way on my belt that held all my weapons. I felt for my gun, my fingers grazed the cool metal object and I held it. I gazed around my surroundings; tall trees surrounded the path, its green leaves made it almost impossible for light to get it.
The snapping of a twig made me look at the direction of the source of the sound. I took out my gun from the belt in one quick movement and pointed it to the direction of the snapping.
Another bullet cut through the atmosphere, its rounded metal head was coming straight to me. I watched the bullet as time seemed to slow down, the metal ammunition moved slowly as I dodged it, making it barely miss my right cheek. Another bullet tried to penetrate my forehead but I moved out of its trajectory.
Metal ammunition seemed to flood the air but I still dodged it closely to save my life or a simple graze on my skin.
The bullets then stopped coming, the forest becoming eerily silent. Blood pounded in my ears as I tried to focus on any unnatural sounds. I heard footsteps and I let my intuition guide me to its direction.
"Hold on, don't shoot" a voice said before I heard the crunching of leaves on my right. Wait, that voice sounds familiar. Too familiar. His voice opened the wound in my mind caused by unwanted memories from the past.
I flinched as I saw the silhouette coming out of the darkness. The mystery silhouette then stepped out of the shadows, revealing a guy with auburn hair and piercing blue eyes. An evil grin played on his lips as I looked at him in horror and disbelief.
"Did'ya miss me, sweetheart?" he said in a sickly sweet tone. A sadistic grin etched on his painfully handsome face.
A/N: Ooouuuhhh who can this mystery guy be? This is kinda a cliffhanger, kinda not, but, oh well. I felt motivated to upload another chapter so here it is, another chapter after the other one was uploaded 30 minutes ago. Hope you enjoy it ;)
Btw, drop a single 'Hey dude' down on the comments so I know how many readers there are.
