Chapter 6

                 

The annoying sound of repetitive beeping woke me up from my slumber. I reached out for it on my dresser to turn it off, my hands found the sleek device and threw it at a nearby wall. The, someone groaned and mumbled an 'Ouch'. I was too tired to even comprehend what was happening and went back to sleep when suddenly, the covers from my bed were violently ripped away from me. The coldness of the air-conditioned room made me uncontrollably shake.

I peeled my eyes open to see who the culprit was, it was Gneiss.

"What do you want now?" I said in a sleepy tone.

"Good afternoon, sleepyhead. It's already 2 pm and I believe I did not see you eat at the lunch room. So therefore, I ate alone in a table while everyone asked me where you were. And you just threw my phone on my head" he said in an awfully cheery way. I could tell he was annoyed by the fact I didn't show up.

"Yeah, yeah" I carelessly said. "Oh and by the way, your father wants to see you in his office" Gneiss said as the made his way to my door "Byeeeee" he dragged the 'e' just so he can annoy me. He knew I was irritated at that.

I groaned in annoyance, he's just lightening mood up. He knew that whatever happened earlier, took a toll on me.

I jumped out of bed, fixed my hair, and put the necessary items on me, except the mask. My eyes found its way on my bed, my duvet was in a heap on the floor from where Gneiss dropped it right after he suddenly ripped it away from me, the pillows were scattered everywhere, and my sheets were a tangled mess.

I cringed at the sight but left it like that. Walking to the bathroom, I did my necessary stuff and walked out of it and my room, also double-checking if I left something or if I left my door unlocked.

'Why am I so paranoid today?' I thought before I went inside the elevator which was empty, as usual. And pressed the floor to my father's office. The sliding metal doors closed and the contraption started to do its work.

I arrived in my father's office and went inside without knocking, he wouldn't mind, he said so himself.

"Aquila, forget about training the new recur-" Kinda forgot to do that "Instead, I have a mission for you. Aquila, you shall be living like a normal teenager" I was taken aback to what he said.

"What?" I asked dumbfounded. I mean, a normal teenager? Am I not normal? What the hell is he talking about?

"You are to be the spy on Blanton, who is currently having a search party for his daughter. Your job is to act as Angel's friend and give them a fabricated lead on her case" he said to me. The instructions were clear but so many questions still ran through my mind.

"She has friends and they don't know who I-" "Angel had told them before that she has a friend they wanted them to meet but never got to due to the undergoing circumstances" Dawson cut me off.

"But what about my face, they'll notice I look like y-" "I have scheduled someone to come and dye your hair and I got someone to buy you blue contacts" he cut me off again.

"But what abou-" "No more questions, all the information is in this folder" he cut me off one last time before he slid a folder to me "Your name is Alyson Banks and you shall be living in the address listed in the folder. Here are your keys" he said and threw me a set of keys. I caught it with my left and turned to leave but he added another note.

"The person dying your hair and bringing your contacts shall arrive in 2 hours. I also told her to buy you a new set of clothes".

"Thank you, father. I'll do whatever I can to report every single detail about Blanton during my stay" I said, quite grateful because I get to leave the facility and quite sad to know that I'd be leaving Gneiss behind. I turned on my heel and walked towards the door. I'm gonna miss this place, even if I'm going stay there for a short period of time.
