Chapter 65 : Aftermath

•Next Day, 9 a.m.; Rob's Recording Studio•

~Maddie's POV~

"Good morning babe" Lachlan greeted; my eyes glued onto my MacBook screen.

I'd just woken up and went straight onto my laptop to edit the footage I had gotten yesterday.

Lachlan came over to my side of the bed and had a seat on the blow up mattress.

I removed my eyes from the screen to see Lachlan with a wooden tray in hand; on top was heart shaped pancakes covered in maple syrup and fruit on a glass plate along with an sliver fork.

"Aw thank you" I gushed, leaning over and giving him a small kiss.

"Rob made it for you while you were sleeping. I already ate" Lachlan explained, as I picked up one of the forks.

I popped a chuck of watermelon in my mouth before turning back to my editing.

"Is that the footage from yesterday?" Lachlan asked, stealing a watermelon.

"Yeah," I replied before turning my body over to face Lachlan,"thank you. That was probably the best birthday I'd had in my lifetime."

"I could say the same. Being the one to make you so happy at the 5 Seconds Of Summer concert was the best gift ever" he replied, holding both of my hands.

I flashed him a warm smile but it immediately faded into frown.

"Our flights leave this afternoon" I sighed.

Lachlan's lips formed into a frown. "Great, long distance all over again."

I flopped down onto the pillows of the mattress; letting out a frustrated groan. "Why the fuck did God invent time zones?"

"We always work through them Mads" Lachlan reminded.

"Yeah but it's almost impossible. Why can't you just live in America? There's Chipotle" I protested, sitting up and resting my head on my elbow.

"As much fun as that sounds I can't just pack up and leave. It's not that easy" Lachlan explained, his lips forming into a thin smile.

"I know I know. I just wish there wasn't a freaking 14 hour distance keeping us apart all the time. Like some days I miss you so much and it just physically hurts. And I know that sounds so clingy but I don't know" I confessed, flopping back down onto the pillows.

"I know what you mean. But hey, long distance doesn't phase us; just makes our relationship stronger" Lachlan pointed out, moving a loose strand of hair away from my forehead.

"Your right. We should just forget about this afternoon" I suggested, giving him a small smile.

Lachlan nodded in reply before I went back to eating the delicious meal Rob had prepared for me; Lachlan stealing a few bites in between.

•Few Hours Later•

"Maddie, we have to leave now" Mitch stated, showing me the time of his phone.

It was time. Time for Lachlan and I go go our separate ways once again. Time for both of us to keep ourselves busy so we don't have to think about each other too much. Time for us to have fucked up sleep schedules just to talk to each other. At this point, it kind of felt like a daily routine.

Ally and Vikk had left just an hour ago for their flight leaving Lachlan, Mitch, Jessica and I to wait patiently on the uncomfortable plastic airport chairs for our flights.

Letting out a sigh, I stood up from my chair; Lachlan following.

"We'll leave you guys to it" Mitch sighed getting up from his chair as well.

Jessica and Mitch let us have some privacy, moving to the other side of the airport waiting area.

Without saying anything, Lachlan pulled me into a tight hug; wrapping his long arms around my body.

We stood there in silence; embracing each other for the last time before we have the chance to see each other again.

"I love you" Lachlan spoke up, pulling away to kiss my forehead.

"Love you too. Bye" I said giving him a quick peek on the lips before turning away from him and grabbing my bags.

I looked at him one last time then made my way towards Mitch and Jessica who watched the whole scene with frowns on their faces.

"You'll be okay" Mitch reassured, draping his arm over my shoulder.

"I know I will" I sighed as we all started walking towards our gate.

Goodbye Toronto, Goodbye Lachlan.
