Anna's POV
Today's the day. Time for the practice that will determine where I will go, where my life will go. I got up earlier than usual, around 8. That's pretty early for a weekend. I got out of bed and put on my practice uniform.
Practice started at 1, so I had a long time to wait. I spent about an hour on my phone, ate breakfast, then I was going to go back on my phone, until the doorbell rang. I put down my phone and headed downstairs to see who it was, but my mom beat me to the door.
I heard her talking, so I assumed it was one of her friends so I stayed upstairs, but then she called me down.
"Anna! There's someone here for you!" She called.
I walked back down to the door. And just as I expected, it was Adam.
He smiled at me.
"Hey" he said.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked. I tried my best not to sound rude, and I think it worked. I was happy that he was here.
"I just came to hang out with you for a while, is that okay?"
My mom was right behind me so both of us turned and faced her.
She thought for a moment, and then agreed. "You two can go sit out by the field, it's 9:40, and we're leaving at 12"
"Okay" I said as I put on my shoes and got ready to go outside.
Adam and I waked to the field by the park. It was a 5 minute walk, so the whole time we were walking, we were talking.
Once we got to the park, we walked straight to the field. Only to see that it was already taken. But hey, it's not that bad right? Wrong. The boys just happened to be guys I knew, and guys I didn't really have a good relationship with. One of them I had a crush on back in grade 7, one from grade 9 and the rest were just rude. Adam and I turned around immediately went off.
We had nothing better to do, and the park was empty, so we went on the swings.
"I bet I can swing higher than you" I said, and as I said it I started swinging up and down. Adam smirked, "Oh reaaaally?" He began swinging too. Both of us harmonized and we stayed at that pace.
It was fun, just talking and hanging out. But of course, it didn't last. One of the boys who were playing soccer, Josh, noticed us. He was somewhat buff, and had perfect teeth. His smile made every girl drool, and he was so kind. You'd think he's perfect. He can do every sport. He's one of the best at math, but the one thing that made him not perfect to me, was that he hated reading. Not to mention he didn't like art.
He walked over to us with his happy/ jock like walk, smiling brightly.
"Hey Anna! Adam!" He smiled. "Wanna join us in soccer?"
"Um" I hesitated. I looked over at Adam.
"Sure, we'd love to. Just one question... why are you guys up and out so early?" Adam asked.
"To be honest I don't know" Josh laughed. "Just one of those days I guess" he smiled as he lead us back to their game.
He announced that we'd be playing, and then asked if I'd go goalie. As a goalkeeper, I prefer to stay out of net when playing silly games like these. If it's professional, like a proper game, then I tend to go as the keeper. But for this game I played up.
We played for two or three hours and it was just so random. I actually had fun. Well, I had fun when I didn't see any of the guys except for Adam and Josh.
"Anna it's 12, we should get going" Adam said.
"Oh yeah, bye guys" I said as we ran off the field.
They called after us, asking where we were going and we always replied with 'practice'. Adam thought it was better to keep the whole Zidane thing a secret, and I agreed. Just in case I didn't make it.
We made it back just in time, my mom was getting into the car to drive us.
"Mom I can drive myself" I laughed. But she replied with the old, 'I have shopping to do'. So she drove us, and dropped us off at my practice. It was 2 hours long today.
We arrived at the center. Time to play.
