Adam's POV
I wasn't sure if word had gotten around about Anna and Real, but I know Zidane didn't want anyone to know so I could brag to my friends any time soon.
Walking to school alone sucked. Anna was getting a ride from her dad, and I was pretty scared of him, so I rejected her offer when she asked me to come with her.
I live pretty close to her, but both of us live in this well, I'm not really sure what to call it. We live in the middle of no where really, all we have is grass, and tress and nature and I love it, so does she. There's a path that leads to the bus stop, we always take the bus, but today her dad wanted to drive her because he wanted to talk to her about soccer.
So here I am, walking. Why? Because I slept in and missed the bus. I'm almost guaranteed to be late. I guess I'll just have to deal with it, there's no one coming to pick me up and bring me to school any time soon.
But just as I said it, a car honked at me. I turned around to look, Zidane? I thought. No. I got my hopes up. It was that grade 12 guy, the senior. More like senior citizen. I thought. I can't stand this guy. He's a year older than me and he thinks he owns the world. He lives near me and Anna, except his house is a little further
"Hey Adam, I heard about you and Anna?" He began.
"Just leave me alone" I said as I sped up. I'll be honest, I'm not the most popular guy out there, more like a soccer nerd.
"Hey, HEY!" He yelled as I continued to walk. I heard his car door open and slam close. And then, I panicked, as I heard heavy footsteps.
"Adam" he said as he swung me around. "Do you know who I am?"
"Yeah yeah you're the caption of the football team, listen man I don't care. You're... what do they call you? Basic." I said. I was actually proud of my teenage girl vocabulary. Impossibly, I let out a little chuckle.
"Do you know my name" he said as he became red.
I froze, "...no..." I said as I looked down.
"My name, is Tyler, don't mess with me kid" he said, jabbing a finger in my chest as he did.
"Um? Kid? I'm one year younger than you calm down" I said.
"Just get in the car" he said, he clearly knew he lost the argument.
"I'm sorry man, I don't like you like that" my sarcasm was the thing that would probably get me killed.
Tyler picked me up from my shirt. I'm not that much shorter than him, probably only and inch so it wasn't that bad. "Listen Adam, you should know I had my eye on Anna for a while now, get in the car" he said "you wouldn't want to be late"
Great. I either get in the car with this psychopath, or I walk an hour or two to school.
Being the dumbass I am, I got in with him. He blasted his music and we were off.
***
Surprisingly I didn't die. The whole car ride was either silent, or Tyler yelling at me. I remained silent throughout though. We got to school ten minutes early, shockingly.
I saw Anna standing by her locker with some of her friends, so I decided to go to class, I'd meet her later. I went off to our first period class, science. On my way there I bumped into some of my teammates.
"Yoo Adam man! What's up" one called.
"Sup" I replied. I didn't feel like talking to them. Why? Because I made a dumb fall at practice and they still didn't let it go. It's been how long? About 2, 3 months.
"Dude remember that fall u had" another said laughing.
That did it. That one line. Why did they feel the need to mention that? I try to drop kick the ball with my left foot and I miss and fall ok my face. So what? It's not that big of a deal. Can they ever let it go? I sighed, then rolled my eyes, "let it go guys"
"Aw is someone embarrassed? Or are you crying on the inside? Chill man it's a joke." The first one said.
"Maybe you should chill and stop bringing it up. It's not that funny." I rolled my eyes again and left. This time, I went to Anna. I don't care if she's with her friends, I need to talk to her. Only her. She's kind, she understands me. None of the guys will ever understand. They're all about being cool, sports, and none of them give a damn about their future.
I walked over to Anna, I tapped her shoulder. She turned around, the brightest smile on her face.
"Hey" I blurted out.
"Hi Adam, what's up?" She asked.
"Nothing, the boys pissed me off again" I laughed, "can we hang out?"
Of course as I asked, her group broke out in giggles and little 'aww's. She playfully rolled her eyes at that.
"I'll see you guys later" she laughed, and we walked away.
"To be honest, I prefer you over those fakes" she laughed "but it was either be alone or talk to them about projects" she laughed again
"Class is going to start soon, shall we" I smiled.
She grabbed my hand and immediately I turned red. And then, we were off. Time for science.
