(This is a biography written by a Holocaust survivor) This book. Everything about this book makes me think. Makes me question my life. Makes me be thankful for what I have. To be thankful for my life. To feel sorrow for those who lost their lives fighting. To feel redemption for those who managed to pull through the hell they were sent in. This book made me question humanity and how cruel the world is. The world truly is a cruel and unforgiving place. We place faith with our God and pray he shows us mercy for our sins. Sins that in no way could ever be repaid. The people who were sent into concentration camps during World War Two should never forgive others for what they have done. They can never un-see the terrors that happened behind those locked gates and electrified fences. How can one keep faith in God when their life is a living hell?
Eliezer Wiesel is just one of millions of people who have been through this. Through his words he shares the despair of the people behind the fences. The constant struggles he faced with staying strong, keeping faith and having the will to survive. With the help of his father and the weight of keeping him strong to survive Elie tries his best to survive an unbearable life I would not want to live. I personally would have given up, been crushed by the weight of the world and my own heart. He survived though. He lives to this day sharing his story, praying that this history will not repeat itself.Hey Bookworms! Earlier this year I was reading a lot of historical fiction books having to deal with the Holocaust/World War II. We were studying the topic in school and this was a required book we had to read. I'm glad it was because it was such an amazing book. It is almost as if the author's heart is poured onto the pages for everyone to read. I highly recommend this book if you don't have to read it is as a part of your curriculum. Thanks!
