"ABORT! ABORT!"

"What?"

"ABORT!"

Nicki ran up and pulled me into the nearest building, just down the street from the gym. Confused, I turned my hands up.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Courtney said no." Nicki was out of breath and I stared at her. "She... Jenna asked and Courtney said no, and they haven't talked since last night and-"

"She said no? Why? What?"

"Courtney found out...about you...fuck my sides hurt."

"I don't understand. How'd she find out about me and Jenna?"

She shrugged. "I don't know. But she's pissed and Jenna's heartbroken. Don't go to the gym today."

I sighed. My immediate thought was that I wanted to go and comfort Jenna, wrap her up in my arms, make her feel better. Nicki seemed to read my thoughts and snapped her fingers.

"Uh-uh. Don't do it."

"She needs me-"

"She needs some alone time."

I started to protest, but I knew she was right. I still wanted to say hello to Hayley, as I hadn't properly spoken to her in a while, and I finally convinced Nicki that it would be okay for me to do that.

Hayley was working behind the desk when we walked in, and she smiled wide, practically jumping over the desk to hug me. I hugged back with a laugh as she asked what I was doing there.

"Dropped by to say hey," I said. Nicki furrowed her eyebrows.

"Where's Jenna?" she asked.

Hayley raised her eyebrows and shrugged. "She didn't come into work today. Have you heard from her?" She looked to me and I shook my head.

"I, um, no... Not since yesterday." I looked at Nicki, who looked back at me with a sympathetic smile.

"I hope she's okay," Hayley said. "I heard about her and Courtney."

"Wow, news travels fast," Nicki said.

"Well, I have a friend who was at The Little Door last night, so..."

I nodded. "Let me know if you hear from her. I just want to make sure she's okay."

"Jen?" I knocked on the door again, this time hearing a loud groan from the other side. I sighed and searched for the spare key, unlocked the door, and frowned at the sight in front of me. "Babe..."

"I'm so stupid," she mumbled into the couch cushion. She yelled into it and I closed the door, walking over to her. When I set my hand on her arm, she rolled into her back and sat up. She swung her legs over the couch. "You were right. You're always right."

"What are you on about?"

"Don't act like you don't know what happened. But I just... God, I should've listened to you. You knew best."

I sighed and wrapped my arms around her. She was talking about what I'd said before leaving the day before. She nuzzled her face into my stomach. I couldn't help the urge to play with her short, blonde hair. The feeling of my fingers through her hair was so calming, so relaxing, and she wrapped her arms around my waist.

"Fuck, come cuddle me, I'm sad," she mumbled into my shirt.

I sighed and sat beside her, letting her rest her head on my shoulder. As comfortingly as I could, I ran my hand along her leg and kissed the top of her head. She sighed.
