Chapter Four: Leaving

It has been a few days since (Y/N) solved her problem with Goten. She felt as if some invisible weight was lifted off her shoulders.

One afternoon, (Y/N) was busily conpleting her homework when someone knocked on her bedroom door.

"Come in," (Y/N) said while scribbling furiosly on the paper.

Her mother came in and said, "Darling, Grandpa wants to talk to you."

"Can he wait for a bit? I'll be downstairs real soon," (Y/N) said.

"Alright, but be quick," her mother said before exiting the room.

***

(Y/N) went down to the living room to find her grandfather sitting on the couch with her mother, drinking coffee.

Her grandfather was in his early seventies. Many people consider him young and not old enough to be a grandpa.

"Ah, (Y/N)," her grandpa said, "Come sit. I have something to tell you."

(Y/N) sat down opposite him and he said, "I'm going to America soon and I don't know when I'll come back. So I was wondering if you would like to go with me?"

(Y/N) had always wanted to visit America ever since she was eight. But to leave down Goten and Trunks?

"Can I think about it?" (Y/N) asked.

"Sure. Take your time," he answered with a smile.

"Thanks Grandpa," (Y/N) said before embracing him.

Later that day, (Y/N) flew over to the Son's house and went over to Goten's bedroom window.

"Hiya Goten!" she chirped, "I've got something to tell you!"

That was when she noticed Goten was wearing a nice tuxedo matched with a tie and shoes. His hair was also nicely done.

"Wow, Goten," (Y/N) said, "You look nice. What's the occassion?"

"Remember Valese?" Goten asked excitedly.

Upon hearing that name, (Y/N) frowned. Goten did not notice it though.

He continued, "We're going on a date today!"

Immediately, (Y/N)'s heart sank. How could he go out with a leech like Valese?

"Don't worry, you can tell me whatever you have to tell me later when I'm back. Okay?" he said.

(Y/N) just sighed in response before saying quietly, "Goodbye, Goten."

"Later, (Y/N)...?" Goten said as he watched (Y/N) fly away.

That was odd, he thought, Why didn't she say "Later, Goten" like she always does?

He decided to brush that thought away as he headed out of the door.

***

(Y/N) flew to the open fields again where she first met Goten and Trunks. She was pissed at Goten, again. Just when it seems her life was perfect, disaster swoops in like a pigeon with a bad case of diahrrea and poops on her head!

An involuntary tear slid down her cheek and she wiped it away.

"Hey, are you okay?"

(Y/N) turned and was gazing into a pair of blue eyes.

It was Trunks.

"Hi, Trunks," (Y/N) said as he sat down.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

(Y/N) sighed and said, "My grandpa wants to bring me to America. I was going to tell Goten about it and see what he said but he had to go for a date with Valese..."

"Oh. I see," Trunks said quietly before saying, "Well, would it help that I bought you ice cream?"

(Y/N) smiled and nodded.

***

"Thanks for everything, Trunks," (Y/N) said with a smile.

"No problem," he said.

"And... um, Trunks?" (Y/N) said.

"Yeah?" Trunks said.

"I'll be leaving for America."

"I know."

"You're not mad, are you?"

"Of course not! You've always wanted to go to America, don't you?"

"Yeah..."

"Are you planning to tell Goten?"

"I don't know. I mean, he's happy with his girlfriend and all, and I don't want him to worry about me..."

"I see."

Once they were at the doorstep of (Y/N)'s house, (Y/N) said, "Bye Trunks. And I'll remember to call back home!"

"Bye (Y/N)," Trunks said while waving back before flying off into the sunset.

***

The next day, (Y/N)'s grandpa came again. He was seated in the living room, talking to (Y/N)'s mother. (Y/N) happened to pass by them, and she stopped and said, "Grandpa?"

"Yes?" he answered.

"I-I'll go to America with you," she said.

"That's great!" he exclaimed with happiness.

"Honey, are you sure?" her mother asked.

"Yes," she answered, "Don't worry about me Mom!"

She smiled to show her that she was sure of going away for who knows when she will return. But on the inside, she was sobbing her eyes out.

***

One week later, in the evening, when Goten went to the Briefs's residence, his eyes were red as if he had been crying.

"Hey Goten," Trunks said while drinking a soda, "What's up?"

"Valese cheated on me!" Goten yelled.

"Sad story," Trunks said flatly.

"You're not even empathizing with me!" Goten wailed, "I'm going to find (Y/N)!"

Just as he was about to match out of the door, Trunks stopped him by saying, "(Y/N) left for America."

"What?!" Goten exclaimed in shock as he turned around and faced Trunks, "How could she not tell me she was leaving?"

"She was going to tell you!" Trunks shouted, "But you were too busy wasting some time on some girl that doesn't even care about you!"

Goten stared at Trunks in shock. That was the first time he ever rasied his voice at him.

Trunks sighed and then said, "She cares about you, Goten. She told me she didn't want to tell you she was leaving so that you wouldn't worry about her. It's obvious she likes you. How can you not notice that?"

"(Y/N)... likes me?" Goten said.

"Yes," Trunks answered before walking away.

Immediately, Goten went outside and soared into the sky, heading to America. He did not know where to start. Closing his eyes and furrowing his eyebrows, he concentrated on finding (Y/N)'s ki.

Finally, he felt something. Quickly, he zoomed off to the source of it.
