There Once Was a Surgeon.

There once was a surgeon,
How lovely was he.
But he dissected my heart,
And left me be.

There once was a writer,
How gorgeous was she.
But she tore my skin to pieces,
All of the words in my mind.

There once was a therapist,
How kind he had been.
Until one day he had lost all hope for me,
Leaving me broken.

There once was a singer,
Making music with my heart.
However, the strings keeping me together,
Had suddenly become untuned.

There once was a painter,
How perfect was he.
But the colors he used to paint me,
Were no longer full of glee.

There once was a Priest,
And he was gentle to the core.
Promised to cleanse me,
But I was easily engulfed by the demons within me.

At last, there was a dollmaker,
Who glued me back together.
But I was much too fragile,
And so every part of me was shattered.

So there I was,
Broken and sad,
Not much left of me to be happy.

Until there he came.

There once was a man,
Just an ordinary man.

He was kind and gentle,
Understood all of my feelings.

He was caring and patient,
And he was nothing special to society.

But he was special to me.

And, sometimes,
That's all you need to keep going.
