Watching You After Death.

I love you, you know?

I saw you grow,
I saw you cry,
I saw you try,
I saw you fail,
And I saw you prevail.

I saw your scrapes after you fell off your bike,
I saw all of the things you said that you like.

I heard you sing to your favourite song,
I heard your family sing along.

I tasted the food you put on my plate,
I tasted the food you made so great.

I saw you after experiencing your first heartbreak,
I saw you every night you lie awake.

I met you in a cage,
I loved you with age.

I listened to the sound of the rain in the night,
As I sat on your lap to be calmed from my fright.

I saw you smile and cry and get mad,
I saw you lose everything you had.

But through it all, I loved you,
More than you knew.

And I couldn't speak your language.
Because in the end,
I'm still just a dog.

But a dog who will love you more,
Than any human ever will.
