I woke up in my bed at the Protectors Mansion. I felt no numbness in my leg, and sighed in relief. It must have all been a dream. Max doesn't have any powers, that's crazy talk! I thought. I leaped out of bed, and grabbed some clothes.
I must have been asleep for a while, because there was some new stuff in our room. I found brand new backpacks littered in the room; there were three backpacks, one for each of us. I found a clean computer near Adri's bed, and a new closet and shelf. I guess Max and Adri were busy.
When I reached the spiral staircase, I jumped off the ledge, levitating all the way down. I felt total control over my powers, like I could do anything. I heard some chatting nearby the balcony, so I flew outside, "Hey guys, how's it go-" I said before my jaw dropped to the floor.
Everyone was at the balcony, having the time of their lives. That wasn't the weird part, not by a long shot. Max and Adri were wearing very different wear than usual, Max weirder than Adri. Max had a long, gleaming white robe, a hood surrounding the outside of his head. Behind him, I saw beautiful white wings, twice the length of him. He saw me, and pulled his hood behind his head, and revealed even more.
He was... half cat? He had fiery orange cat ears, and a tail. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, and eventually Adri tapped my shoulder, bringing me back to reality. Adri looked similar to Max, but he wore heavy knight armour, and his diamond katana was strapped to his back. Underneath the armour, I was able to see an orange shirt with a black pegasus in the center of the shirt. What does that mean...?
Adri grinned nervously, and explained what the heck was going on. "Sorry we never told you about our real lives, Sam. We just didn't want you to worry about who we really are."
Understandable, the last couple days have been a real whirlwind. Me getting kidnapped, what, three times now? I would get why they wouldn't trust me. I looked back at the other Protectors, and they seemed to already know about Max and Adri's secret. Summer seemed to be here too, but she was talking to Father Time, and probably hadn't noticed I was here yet. I sighed, and sat on a nearby chair, waiting for an explanation.
Max flew next to my chair, and took a seat beside me. "I'm just gonna go ahead and say it; Sam, we're Sorcerers. At least, I am. Adri's the head guard of Phoenix Mountain, so he doesn't have any powers involving Sorcery.
"Phoenix was our teacher for the longest time, and taught us all we know now. Phoenix, Adri and I were kidnapped by these... hooded Sorcerers, far more powerful than the three of us. Eventually, they revealed themselves as Hanna and Lord Sebastian, but we were forced to call him by the Crimson Dragon. Hanna and Sebastian were the princess and king of the Dragon Tribe, one of the divisions of Sorcerers. I was forced to be the pet of Hanna's, since she wanted a cat." Max continued as he itched his cat ears, and Adri giggled at the sight. I wasn't used to having a cat for a friend either, so we were at equal emotions... I think.
Max was about to continue, but I raised my hand, interrupting him. "Hold on just a second. If all that stuff from last night actually happened, then how is Adri out of that black orb thing, and where is that other girl I saw last night? Isn't she Summer's friend?" Max nodded, "Yeah, Adri is still in the orb, technically. All I did was create a mirage of him. The truth is, this is just a reflection of the real Adri..."
Max dug out of his pocket the black orb, and inside was a very tiny version of Adri. When the small Adri waved his hand at me, the mirage copied his movements. It must have been like double vision. Max sighed, "As for Amy, she's still sleeping. We made her roommates with Summer, since they seem to get along well."
Max pocketed the orb, and kept explaining, "Anyways, since you know about us now, I think it's time we ask the question." Max turned to Father Time, who noticed, turning Summer aside. "Protectors, the Crimson Dragon had destroyed my teacher, my mentor, my friend. I want my payback, and I want to avenge Phoenix, and all he had. Before we lost him, he gave me a paper. To find two things; the one that is the light in the darkness, and the darkness in the light, as well as find the truth of tomorrow." Max was slowly turning, giving a good eye at all the protectors. "All of you are the light in the darkness, and the Breakers are the darkness in the light. One of our members, Hanna, was sent off to find who we believe is the truth of tomorrow. Now here is my question for you Father Time. Will you help us defeat the Crimson Dragon, and become a proud division of Phoenix Mountain?"
Father Time looked at all of us: the new generation of the protectors of reality. Father Time smiled, and nodded, "Yes, we will help you. On one condition, the mansion comes with us. The mansion signifies where the home of the protectors is. Wherever we stay, the house comes with us. I hope that this is okay with you."
Max grinned, "That's completely fine, if you have a way to bring the house to our headquarters." This was amazing. I felt like Max and Adri were finally apart of the protectors now. All was calm, and it was the first time in days I felt I was really home.
Then that all stopped.
"Max Blazen, it's been a while! What, a couple months? Good to see you again! Now, are you ready to die?" came an unfamiliar voice. The voice put terror into Max's once calm, cool face. The voice sounded like needles pricking into my soul. I winced, and turned to the source of the voice.
Max's eyes widened when he saw who it was, "You! you should be dead! I saw you die!" he screamed. Before I could see where the boy was, I heard a response, "Yes, but I'm back now, and I'm ready to finish what I started."
I looked at Max, a star forming in my hand, ready to be blasted at the voice, "Who is this guy? How did he find you?"
Max looked at me, his expression filled with dread, "That is Phoenix' killer. He is known as Swordfish, the commander of the Crimson Dragon."
A/N - Hey Guys!
Who is Swordfish? How is he alive? Max says he's dead?
I'm scurd.
