UNKNOWN'S POV
The girl always seemed to have people around her. I tried to persuade Mistress from sending that warning. Now my job is a whole lot harder. I could have killed them last night while they were sleeping but what's the fun in that? Then I wouldn't get the satisfaction of their screams. Mistress has no idea that her beloved Marshall Lee was hours away from death. Nobody knew but me, and I plan to keep it that way. A rustling sounded behind me. I quickly scuttled around, searching for the point of sound. A small creature came out of the bushes and I snapped it up, swallowing it whole. It was time for me to take my position. My targets will never see me coming.
FIONA'S POV
Chrissy wouldn't let me see my reflection the entire time she made me over. It kinda reminded me of when Cake made me over on my birthday. I felt the makeup brush skating over my face. The comb tugged the knots out of my hair cleanly. Cory hadn't been present the whole time. I figured she was with Marshall, helping him set things up. Marshall is sweet and all, but he is no miracle worker. He needed help with things like this, even if he didn't want it. Chrissy finally pulled the blindfold off of my face. I blinked, my eyes adjusting the lighting before looking in the mirror. My hair was braided to the side with wisps of it flying out. My lips were a light shade of pink. Around my eyes, it was a dark brown with black mascara. Victory is mine! I still remember the names of some of the things Cake put on my face. But back to the point. Chrissy began leading me out of the house and down the hill. I could hear faint music in the background, getting louder as we walked closer. Marshall stood in front of me, a smile on his face. Yes, I said smile, not smirk. I thought his only expression was that same old annoying but cute smirk. Chrissy and Cory both squeezed me into a hug. After they released me, I took Marshall's hand. He pulled me close and I sighed in pure contentment. But then he had to ruin it by putting a blindfold on me.
"Ugh, Marshall! Do I have to wear a blindfold?", I whined, tired of surprises.
But I had a feeling this one I would like. Marshall placed a chaste kiss on my lips, stunning me into silence.
"Yes. You do have to wear it. I promise you'll like the surprise."
I rolled my eyes and let myself be guided. I could feel a smooth material covering the top half of my body. It was probably silk, knowing Chrissy. I was wearing jeans, that was for sure, and....boots? Yes, boots. I could feel the leather reaching up to my knee when I bent my leg. My feet reached the ground again and Marshall untied the blindfold. I slipped it off of my face and looked down at myself. The shirt was silky and a powder blue. I looked up to see we were in a tree house. Little lights were strung up about the ceiling. It set me at peace with its homey feeling. Its simplicity made it beautiful. A red blanket was spread on the floor, a small picnic basket adorning it. I launched myself at Marshall for a hug. He caught me, spinning us around. I giggled, not being able to help it. A rustling in the leaves stopped me short. A pair of amber eyes appeared, watching my every move. Marshall set me on the floor. I nudged him, pointing to the eyes.
"Marshall...", I whispered.
The beast began pulling itself out of the throng of leaves with a feral growl. Its huge blue head had large spikes running down it. It had the body of a lion and the head of a wolf. Yellow fangs jutted from its mouth. Its tail was poised to strike with its poisonous barb on the end. Marshall pushed me behind his back as I drew my sword.
"Ah, Fiona the Human. Just the person I was looking for. I am Waldorf. Let's get this over with quickly, shall we?", he growled.
It was a miracle that he could talk, seeing as those fangs were huge. Then he lunged. Marshall quickly pulled both of us out of the way. Waldorf crashed through the window and onto the floor below us. He began climbing up the tree trunk when Marshall scooped me up and flew out of the window. Panic was evident on his face. I clutched onto his forearms as he flew higher. I looked down at the beast after us. Waldorf's skin began bulging. Scaly wings burst out of the fur. He pumped them up and down, pushing himself into the air. I pushed away from Marshall, falling through the air. The wind whipped in my face. My sword was clutched in my hand. I landed on its back. Waldorf smelled like fish that had been in the sun for years. In other words, absolutely repulsive. He shrieked in surprise and turned through the air. I wrapped my fingers in his fur, refusing to let go. He flipped his body upside down. My feet dangled over the ground. I could feel my grip slipping. All of a sudden, Waldorf's body jerked. My hands slid from his blue fur and I fell into the open. My eyes stung as the wind whipped into them. A scream escaped from my mouth. Marshall watched on, horror stricken. He wasn't fast enough to catch me.
This was the end.
