After a seemingly long drive, the car came to a stop. He opened his door to get out and I did the same, stepping out onto a curb just in front of a house. It wasn't a mansion but it wasn't a regular double story house. It was packed with people- I noticed it was mainly men. Marquis had walked around and grabbed my hand, urging me along with him up to the backyard gate.
Looking around, the stench of weed was so thick in the air, it was making my head hurt. In the driveway was a Range Rover that my eyes became fixated on. I couldn't see the license plate but it was all black and that put a strange burning sensation in my stomach.
"Someone or something catch your eye?" Marquis asked making me instantly look away from the car. He looked over in the direction I was looking in but didn't catch what exactly I was glaring at. He brought his eyes back to me and I just shook my head. "You sure?"
"I was just looking around." I said as we continued to the backyard. There was a large pool with women and men jumping in and out of, alcohol was everywhere I looked and I can only assume the drugs were inside. Music blasting so loud, it stung my eardrums. Not only was there alcohol everywhere, but sex was too. There was no shame here, it was people doing whatever they wanted without a single care in the world.
"So while you're here, enjoy your reward." He said when he reached down to my ear due to the music being too loud to hear.
"Where are you going?" I asked pulling on his arm when he was about to walk away. "Marquis."
"I'm gonna go enjoy myself. I'll find you at some point before I leave, trust." He brushed me off his arm and merged into the large crowd of people. I felt the eyes of many men on me, looking me down like I was a piece of meat and they were a pack of hungry lions. I made my way through the drunk bodies so I was inside.
It was just as bad as out there if not slightly worse because this was where the heavy stuff was. In the living room- or what I consider the living room- were many people passing around a few blunts. They blew out smoke rings and balls, doing all kinds of crazy tricks with the smoke. In the kitchen were people shooting up heroin. They had belts around their arms to get their veins to pop up and they had someone else inject the needle for them. Others stood around with a spoon in hand and the flame of the lighter was used to heat up the spoon and whatever contents were on it.
Venturing around the house some more, there were stairs that led upstairs and some that led downstairs to what I could only guess was a basement. I avoided both sets of stairs and walked back through the house in which I came.
My main goal was searching for CJ. If that was his Range Rover, then he has to be here somewhere. I've established he's no where on the first floor, I even did a second run through just to make sure I didn't miss anyone but he wasn't there. I was back over by the stairs and I looked down again. It was pitch black aside from a very faint light way at the bottom, so that alone just screamed at me not to dare take a chance. I looked up and there was light but it was quiet... no. I won't do it, I refuse. If CJ's up there he'll be bound to come down at some point so I went back outside.
Marquis might as well have vanished. Scanning the area he wasn't within sight either. I saw an empty table not too far from where I currently was and I made my way over there. Taking a seat, I enjoyed the fact I was off to the side and this gave me time to sit here thinking about what the hell was I going to do.
I could slip out of here and run off to get help. Get them to go back to that place where we were being kept- I memorized exactly what turns we made and what streets we went down just to get from that building to this house. Authorities could get involved, I'd be able to save all those women who were back there but who's to say Marquis isn't watching me right this second from somewhere I couldn't see? If this was just all a test to see what I'd do? For all I know everyone at this party could be in on this whole trade so escaping would be useless.
