Waking up the next morning to a dark room made me wonder what time it was. I reached down to my phone where it had fallen onto the ground and saw it was just past seven. CJ was still asleep based on his soft snores that made me chuckle.
Did I fully believe his explanation? More so than the first time I heard it but I still question how a deal for cars turned into selling two women. There's something about that issue that doesn't sit right with me but it felt good to wake up next to him like before. I was hoping he'd wake up so I could ask him a few things that just popped into my head. There's so much to learn about all these under the table businesses and who better to ask than the man who laid asleep next to me?
While he was asleep, I took it upon me to get out if bed and at least clean myself up. Slipping out of his room without making a single sound, I continued to the bathroom just across the way from Imani's room. She was already awake since the light could be seen under her door and plenty of movement was heard.

Nearly an hour had passed and we had breakfast before we went back to his room to lay on his bed.
"I was thinking and had a question." I said bringing my eyes up to his. "Why was Malik so intent on getting his money? It couldn't have been more than twenty dollars, right?"
"Well it depends on the strain, what it's laced with and who's selling it. Some people sell a little bag for ten bucks and others can sell it for two grand. Just depends on those variables. In Malik's case, he gave her an expensive strain that he deemed a bad batch because it was laced. He was charging a grand and price went up as each day went by. One to two, two to four, four to sixteen and so on. Mickey was ripped off and Malik was a terrible dealer." He said with sleep still caught in his voice. "Why?"
"I was just thinking about it. If it had been ten dollars, I could have just paid him myself and avoided a lot of the mess but I see it was much more than just ten dollars." I thought all weed was priced the same but this just showed how wrong I was and then seeing how Malik was raising the price was just ridiculous. That was more than just ripping Mickey off.
"Well now you know and the issue is long gone." Thank God for that. "What time you needa be back home?"
"Pretty soon, actually." My phone vibrated on the nightstand and I smiled when I saw it was a message from Chastity.
"Who could possibly make you smile like that at a text?" He asked teasingly. "Is is Jordan?"
"It's Chastity."
"Now y'all are the best of friends, huh? Your Dad would disapprove of her ass so fast." Laughter seeping through his words, I shoved him a bit. "Am I wrong?"
"He wouldn't disapprove of him because she's his other daughter." His laughter came to a dead halt. "Chastity and I are fraternal twins. I didn't know till she told me back in San Francisco. It makes sense because of the way our names are paired, same last name and even our middle names are similar."
"Are you for sure? Chastity talks a lot of shit-"
"When I brought her up to my Dad he was hesitant and wanted to drop the subject. He promised he'd tell me what happened but he hasn't and that's why he and I aren't on the greatest of terms." I refuse to cave in and explain my story. All I wanted to know was why I was separated from my twin. Is that just too much to ask? I deserve to know, right? Chastity wants to know too but Mom I guess doesn't even remember since it was so long ago and her memory is just deteriorating. That's what Chastity told me at least.
