“What do you want, Jack?” I asked when I stepped out of the cabin. I felt myself getting slightly worried because what else could Jack Barakat possibly want from me?

“Let’s leave,” he said with an innocent smile.

“We can’t just leave, Jack. Even though I really want to, we can’t.” I had to be there for my band for the concert because I knew if I wasn’t there it would be the last straw and they would probably kick me out.

“Just for tonight. We can go out to a bar or a club or something. I need to leave the wilderness,” Jack pleaded.

I laughed. “The trees too much for you, Mr. Superstar?” I teased.

He grabbed my arms and pulled me closer to him. “Too many people,” he murmured with a smirk. Then he laughed at my horrified face. “C’mon Aubbybear, just this once,” he begged.

“Aubbybear?” I asked with a smirk, crossing my arms over my chest.

“Yeah, it’s my pet name for you,” he said, petting the top of my head.

“Ok, ok, I’ll go with you,” I said, swatting his hand away.

“Woohoo!” He cheered, grabbing my hand and pulling me away from my cabin. “I stole the keys to the bus we used to get here on my way over,” he explained.

“We’re leaving right now?” I asked. I looked like a train wreck. Not that I cared but Jack might care. Maybe he doesn’t want to be seen in public with an ugly girl wearing a baggy sweater.

“Looks like it,” he said as we approached the parking lot. We got to the All Time Low bus and  made our way out of the camp. Honestly, it felt good to finally be leaving for once. This place seemed like a jail for famous people.

“Do you have any idea where we’re going?” I asked after about ten minutes of driving down one long quiet road with absolutely no humanity.

“No idea. I just figured we would drive until we found something that looked like it had people in it. Like... this place,” Jack said when we suddenly saw a bar on the side of the road. There was a fair amount of cars in the parking lot and it didn’t look completely beat up.

We walked into the bar. Going into this, I was definitely thinking that Jack was going to eye other girls up and down and possibly flirt with a few of them. That was just the Jack I knew, and I didn’t expect anything less.

In the bar it looked very typical. There was a few pool tables and a bunch of flat screen TV’s playing the latest sports game that no one cared about. There were a few tables here and there but most everyone was sitting at the bar, flirting with the waitresses and bartenders.

I must’ve zoned out for a few seconds because before I knew it there was a drink in my face being held by Jack. I took the glass from him and immediately chugged it down. I must’ve been really thirsty or I really wanted to get drunk. No one will ever know, not even me.

Jack laughed. “You must be thirsty,” he said, waving down the bartender while taking a sip of his own drink. “Two more of whatever this is, please,” he said to the bartender.

“It feels good to finally be in this atmosphere again. The wilderness is too much sometimes,” I said, watching as a group for slutty girls walked past. Jack didn’t even turn his head. He had his eyes fixated on me.

“Yeah... I guess the trees were too much for you too,” he joked.

“Yeah,” I said, taking a deep breath in attempt to make myself feel less awkward for staring at girls without Jack staring at them as well. Hopefully this wouldn’t be an entire night of awkwardness.

A few hours later I was completely drunk out of my mind. It was a total accident... not really. I took every shot handed to me and downed every highly alcoholic beverage that was thrown my way.

I wasn’t the only drunk person. Jack was drunk too. He was sliding all over the dance floor and dancing on tables and throwing up in the same corner every ten to twenty minutes.

“Let’s go outside,” Jack slurred, grabbing my elbow and pulling me outside with him. When I was drunk, I didn’t talk or argue too often, but I did enjoy laughing at stupid things and throwing up when I felt the need to.

“Why are we outside?” I asked when we carefully made our way down to the ground so we could sit. It was really cold outside and I was being eaten alive by mosquitoes.

“Because inside is boring. We should get naked to keep each other warm,” Jack offered when he felt me shivering.

“Can we go in the van?” I asked after I decided to throw up on the sidewalk.

Jack threw up as well. “Yup,” he answered when he was done, getting up and helping me up too. We stumbled over to the van and Jack fumbled with the keys in his pocket before finally unlocking the door.

The back of the van was very open because that’s where all of the instruments of their choice had to go, but now it was just an open trunk with no windows.

“Do you have any blankets?” I asked, my teeth chattering ferociously.

“I told you we have to get naked. It’s how people stay alive in like... movies,” Jack countered, taking his jacket off in a hurry.

“But clothes,” I said, grabbing his jacket and putting it on. It was a comfortable leather jacket and even though I hated leather I couldn’t complain.

“Fine, I’ll get naked and you freeze to death and we’ll see who feels better in the morning.”
