When I woke up, I stretched and heard a groan beside me.
“Alex, don’t interview me right now,” a familiar tired voice mumbled beside me. I turned to see Jack hugging a pillow. Beside me. He was beside me hugging a pillow.
I tried not to freak out as I looked under the covers. I was wearing my bra and underwear, and he was wearing boxers. Oh my god, please tell me we didn’t.
“Jack,” I whispered, attempting to shake him awake.
“My favourite colour is green,” he muttered, swatting my hand away.
“Jack, it’s Aubrey!” I yelled.
His eyes shot open and he rubbed them before stretching and letting out a big yawn. “Morning Aubrey,” he said, shooting me a tired smile.
“Why are you acting so... normal? Do you know what happened last night? Because I’m completely lost here, Jack please help I don’t know what to do. What if-”
“Aubrey, everything is fine,” he interrupted. “You got really drunk and I don’t know where your cabin is so I did you a great service by letting you sleep here.”
“Why aren’t we wearing clothes?”
“Because sleeping in clothes isn’t very comfortable.”
“You took my clothes off so I would be comfortable?” I yelled, throwing a pillow at him. “Why are we sleeping in the same bed? Don’t gentlemen sleep on the couch or something?” I had never been caught in one of these situations before. What were you even supposed to do?
“I’m definitely not the gentleman type, Aubrey. You should know that by now.”
I sighed. “I am so sorry. I am such an idiot,” I said, crossing my legs. “What kind of stupid things did I say last night?”
“Well, you said you wanted to kiss me. I wouldn’t call that stupid because well, look at me,” he said cockily, while pushing the covers of off him.
I laughed. “Well, I just caught my boyfriend cheating on me so I don’t think I’ll be kissing you anytime soon.”
After eating breakfast with Jack in the All Time Low cabin, he walked me back to my cabin just so he would know where it was the next time I got really drunk.
“So, I’ll see you later,” he said, scratching the back of his neck.
“There you are!” A familiar voice yelled, as they came out of my cabin. Justin came up to me and wrapped his arms around me. “I haven’t seen you in-”
“What the fuck are you doing?” I asked, pushing him off of me. “I heard you and a girl in the forest, Justin. The secret’s out.”
He looked shocked at first, then he turned to Jack. “So you decided to sleep with this douche instead?” He shot, looking back to me with a disappointed glare.
“I didn’t- Justin, you broke my heart. Why do you care who I hang out with when you just go around sleeping with other girls, anyways?” I yelled, feeling tears fog my vision again. Oh no, I can’t cry again.
“You didn’t even talk to me! How do you expect me to talk to you and spend time with you when you just avoid me?” He yelled back.
“Because you fucking cheated on me!” I stormed into my cabin and locked the door behind me. I went upstairs to my room and slammed the door behind me.
“Dude, me and Aubrey didn’t do anything last night,” I heard Jack say from outside. I noticed my window was open, and my curiosity got the best of me.
“When I get Aubrey back, you better be nowhere near her. If I see you and her together, you can say goodbye to your pretty boy band face,” Justin spat.
Jack laughed sarcastically. “I’d like to see that.”
“C’mon, Aubrey, we’re going swimming,” Katrina said when she came into my room. I’ve been sitting in here for god knows how long, just contemplating life and why I dated Justin in the first place.
“Can’t I just stay in here and eat?” I whined.
“No, here’s your bikini, put it on and meet me downstairs in five minutes,” she said, throwing me my bikini and going back downstairs.
I groaned and put the bikini on, because if I didn’t, Katrina would definitely do it for me and I wasn’t going to risk that.
After grabbing a towel, I went downstairs and saw Katrina sitting on the couch with Steve and Brett.
“Great. I wasn’t looking forward to going up there and putting it on for you. We’re going to have so much fun, and apparently everyone’s going to be there so you get to be social for once,” Katrina said, getting off the couch and walking out the door.
I groaned at Steve and Brett before following her out the door.
Once we got to the private beach, I realized that Katrina was right. Everyone was there. I saw Jack laughing in the water with Alex, and Justin sleeping on a towel. Those were the only people I really cared about.
Jack looked over to me and smiled before Alex took the opportunity to attack him from behind and shove him under the water. I laughed as they started fighting.
I laid my towel down on the sand and sat down. I was never a huge fan of swimming, but I’ve known how to swim for almost my whole life. I’d much rather sit and watch everyone swim, even though that sounds really weird and horrible.
“You’re not sitting on your towel today,” Katrina said, grabbing my hand and pulling me up off the ground. “You’re going to have fun today,” she murmured.
“I’m not going to have fun if you’re tugging on my wrist all day,” I murmured, shaking my wrist out of her grasp.
“Hey, Aubrey!” Jack yelled quickly before Alex shoved him under the water again. “How-” pushed under again, “are-” again, “you?”
I laughed as I swam over to them and Alex smiled and acted as if everything was completely fine while he was holding Jack’s head underwater. “Hi Aubrey, lovely day for a swim, isn’t it?” He said with a playful smirk before he was pushed underwater and Jack came up for air while holding Alex under.
“It’s nice to see you um... out. It’s been like, a day,” he said, letting Alex come up and spit water in his face.
“Yeah, I guess I needed to get out and enjoy the sun and whatnot. Nice tattoo, by the way,” I said, motioning to his Jack Skellington tattoo not because I was admiring his abs or anything.
“Oh, thanks...” he said, nudging Alex.
“I’ll leave you guys to talk,” Alex said, going underwater and swimming over to Rian, Zack, and Katrina. I looked around nervously, trying to spot Brett or Steve to break any awkwardness. They were on the beach, talking to Jenna McDougall from Tonight Alive. I don’t think I’ll be getting their attention any time soon.
“Um, I was wondering if you might want to go out with me sometime tonight. I mean, not like a date or anything, just as friends, unless you want it to be a... yeah,” he said, nervously.
I laughed. “Yeah, I’d love to go out with you. I need to, forget things, I guess.”
“I’ll come by your cabin at eight.”
