Dear Friend,
May you be my friend forever,
I will not make our friendship easy.
There will be bumps and bruises,
But we will recover.
I vouch to be there for you in time of need,
Or when you just want someone there so you are not lonely.
If you are sick,
I will come to your rescue and make you soup.
Walks, dancing, and horrible jokes,
Ya, those are part of the package.
Expect food everywhere,
And my cabinets full.
I promise to help you,
Even if I need help.
I can wait,
Just let me help you.
Don't push me away,
That's practically impossible anyway.
I will give you space,
Especially when you need it.
We may fall at times,
But we can pick ourselves up, right?
Or is this a dream,
A universal reality?
Have we fallen,
Did I not notice it?
Was this all a lie,
Was it just a dream?
So tell me,
How could I be so blind?
I'm lost,
Please, will somebody help me?
I am trying to be happier,
Is it obvious?
I put a smile on my face,
And laugh at jokes.
I think I am making it,
Can you see?
I love life again,
And all its joys.
I love how I have learned,
To dig out of a deep, dark hole.
Life is now amazing,
I have fought,
And I have won.
Ever since you left me,
I have become a new person.
I can smile and laugh,
And walk with happy thoughts floating in my head.
So goodbye old friend,
And thanks for the lesson.
