Chapter 9
‘You can’t run away from trouble. There ain’t no place that far.’
Uncle Remus (A/N: Yeah, it is a bit random... lolol)
"What have I become, Alexia?" Sinny sobbed. "What have I become?"
She shook her head sadly in reply, as they hugged in the rain. Sinny cried into her shoulder.
"I didn't mean it. I never want you to go away. I never want Pinnferr to hate me. I never wanted to be in this mess."
"I know Sinny, I know."
"I never wanted to be a leader. I never wanted to go up against Javint. I never wanted to be stuck here to protect Phinor."
Alexia rubbed her back.
"Look at me. I'm not a strong leader! I used to fool myself into thinking it, but I'm not strong."
"You should get changed into some dry clothes and get some rest."
"But, but, Pinnferr? Shouldn't we search for them?"
"Do you really think they won't come back? Where will they go? It's not like there's a buffet out there! Besides, they will miss us."
Alexia's voice seemed so reassuring...
"Come on Sinny." she attempted to pull back but she was clinging to her arms. "Aw, that's cute. But seriously, we'll get even more soaked if we stay out here any longer."
Sinny didn't let go.
"Sin-ny..."
She snorted. She was asleep. She'd fallen asleep in Alexia's arms.
Alexia sighed exasperatedly and moved her head slightly to their only other companion. "Gnit!" she whispered. "Psst!"
"Huh?" his eyes suddenly grew wide and he became alert. He looked down at Alexia and Sinny. "Oh. Vot?"
"She's asleep."
"In your arms?!"
"Ssh!"
"Sorry."
"Get over here."
He walked over and bent down.
"Can you carry her?"
"Sure."
"Well then. She's all yours!"
He heaved her up, and cradled her in his arms like a little baby.
"And we can wake her up when we get back so she can get into some different clothes. But for now, let her sleep a little."
"A sleep for three minutes?"
"I don't think she's going to sleep tonight..."
Gnit nodded and they walked back, into the darkening land of Phinor.

"Vot do you sink is vong vith her?" Gnit said, genuinely concerned as she placed Sinny down, propping her against Alexia's bunk.
"I honestly have no idea."
"Ze Sinny I know is strong! Not zis!" he gestured to her.
"I know... And what was that about 'the kiss'?"
"Yeah!"
"Pinnferr kissed her?"
"I alvays knew he liked her!"
