*"Come here, girl!" Yelled Jezebel, as I came running towards her.
I barked and howled, trying to get her attention so she would give me food. It's been a day since I last ate, and I was starving.
"We have to savor our food. We only have so much." Said Jezebel. "I would I packed more food, but I didn't know we would be out on sea this long. It's not my fault that we ran into that storm."
I looked at her, completely forgetting how hungry I was. Every time that I look into Jezebel's bright blue eyes, I feel safe - I felt peaceful... But, yet, my hunger still got in the way of how I felt at that moment.
I whimpered louder and louder, but Jezebel didn't notice me. I barked as loud as my vocal cords would allow me, but Jezebel still didn't pay any attention to me. I then went to the stern, looking out at sea.
I saw a small bird come. The bird looked like he was taunting me, so I ran after him! The bird led me to the bow, where he flew away to the point where I could not reach. I looked off the edge of the boat, out into sea. But instead of seeing the bright blue sea, I saw a dark grey form. the form was very jagged and I didn't know what to think of it. I then heard the captain and Jezebel's dad yelling, "Rocks! Rocks!". At that point on, I realized that the ship was about to crash into giant, jagged rocks! The captain said that they were too close to the rocks to have enough time to turn! Jezebel's mom and dad started giving out rescue jackets, and we all started to jump out of the boat, onto a raft. We slowly started to realize that there weren't enough rafts to save everybody! So, once the last raft was gone, Jezebel, her dad, her mom, the captain, a few other people, and I, started to jump into the water, hoping to see an island somewhere near by. I was the first one to jump off. But, as I did, I was plummeted into the water, sinking down! I heard Jezebel jump right after me, and then everybody else jumped. But once I got up to the surface of the water, Jezebel, nor anybody else, was to be seen!
I swam and swam, and finally came to an island, hoping that they were already there. I walked for days on the island, looking for my sweet Jezebel and everybody else. After a couple of months of being on the island, I thought that was going to be the end of me. I had no hope left. I had soon forgotten my name, and lost all emotion.
It was around 5:00am, and I was already awake. I saw a large shadow in the distance of the ocean. I mistook it as being a giant rock. But, as I looked at the shape closer, I noticed that it was moving! I quickly realized that I was looking at a ship!
Still being a little pup, I didn't have a very loud bark, but I tried anyway!
I barked and howled, trying to get the attention of the people on the boat.An hour later, the boat had came to the beach of the island that I was on. The people on the boat stormed off like me when I'm chasing a bird.
Most of the people were wearing sunglasses or hats. I did not recognize the language they were speaking. For, it was not French. I remembered Jezebel coming home everyday from school, speaking that language. I believe she said it was called... English. She said that she was studying it in school.I walked up to one of the men. The man was wearing a uniform so I assumed that he was the captain. He looked down at me.
"There are no animals aloud on the Gemstone Cruise!" The man yelled at the crowd of people. "Who's dog is this?"
Everybody went silent.
I barked, trying to tell the man that I did not belong to anybody on the ship.
"Wait..." The man said, as he bent down to be at my height. "You don't belong to anybody, do you, little pup."
I nodded my head no.
"Here, little pup, come with me on the ship. We'll drop you off at our next stop - New York City!" The man said.As I climbed onto the ship, I saw many sites, and smelled many scents.*
And then I woke up...
