When you and me were together: A MakoHaru Fanfic

Iwatobi Memories(Makoto)

Wow, that was the best day ever. Everyone was happy and having fun at the beach. It was just perfect, like good o'l times when we were still going to Iwatobi High. 

I quickly ran up to my room and collapsed onto my bed. 

Haru went back to his place and I went to my place also. My phone started ringing, which was so annoying, so I answered it

"Hello" I yawned.

"Sorry to bother you Makoto but do you know where Haru is?" Gou asked through the phone.

"He went back home, why" I responded trying to control my yawning.

"Oh well, Rin is looking for him because tomorrow he's returning to Australia with Haru" Gou explained.

"What?! He's going to leave again, oh because of his swimming career." I gasped. 

"Yea, I know it's too soon but they have a swim competition in Sydney." Gou blurted.

"Oh, well I guess it's time for him to go back there then well bye Gou see you tomorrow I guess" I spoke, ending the call and placing it back at the bed side table.

I felt devastated, everything was going well until to the point where Haru had to leave. Maybe, this is the right time to let him go and just forget about him. Because who knows when he'll be back here, in Iwatobi he's a professional swimmer; so he must be traveling the world. I couldn't help but shed a small tear at my covers, as I lay down thinking of what's going to happen next. 

All of the memories of Iwatobi High came into mind:

FLASHBACK: Nagisa's return to Iwatobi High

"Makoto!" Nagisa excitedly waved running the stairs and attacked hug me. 

"Nagisa, wow nice to see you again" I smiled, hugging him back.

"Yea, it was so boring without you and Haru; I mean I had no fun, it was just not the same" Nagisa ranted. 

Nagisa went to this boarding school for  junior year, but he failed his re-sit so his parents let him go back to iwatobi. He was sending us letters of how it was at his boarding school. 

It felt like prison, we all had to go to sleep at the same time. Everyone here was smarter than me and no one smiled. It was serious, no pillow fights, just pencils and textbooks.

That was the first letter we received, but then Haru tore up the paper. He was so furious, he kicked the trash can by the vending machine and punched his locker. Haru, cared about Nagisa he was a reck when he found out Nagisa wasn't going to Iwatobi High for junior year. But then, Nagisa wrote to him reassuring that he was alright and learning a lot. 

FLASHBACK: Rei joins the team

It took forever to get more recruits for this swim club Nagisa suggested. We made posters, merchandise which was a Bird that Haru crafted from wood. It was the swim club's symbol, but it didn't go to well. As Haru approached people and tried to demonically hypnotize them into signing up. 

"Haru-chan!" Nagisa yelled.

"Mm?" Haru turned around freeing the victims. 

"That's not how you approach people" I wailed apologizing to the people.

We were so close to giving up, but we didn't we wanted this swim team to happen. 

"If we were able to clean the nasty pool and repaint it, we can get a new teammate" I encouraged.

"Mako-chan's right, we can do this!" Nagisa shouted eating his strawberry bread filling. 

The next day, we found a new recruit his name was Rei. He was the best in track and smartest too, he was intrigued when he saw Haru swimming. Nagisa excitedly pushed him into joining the team. It took a lot of tries, but it was all worth it. We had a new teammate and new found friend. 

END OF FLASHBACK

I woke up looking at the time, it was only 2am I tried to sleep again, but couldn't. So I put on my sneakers and went for a walk to the shrine, the border of Haru and my home. It felt yesterday when Haru and I argued like that. Climbing the steps weakly, feeling an emptiness inside my chest.
