Everyone noticed him when he walked up to the camp. His friends cheered and went to embrace him. They rejoiced at his return. They were glad that he was alright.

But no one noticed that he wasn't truly alright. He was alive, for sure, but that didn't mean he was okay. In the dim light, no one noticed the tear stains on his cheeks or the burn marks on his clothing. No one noticed the sad, haunted look in his baby-blue eyes.
