Starstruck

Chapter 2

And just like that we had won the tournament. All I could really hear was, 'Nice job Kay!' Me being me (I'm not good at taking compliments) I had to direct the attention to someone else.

"We couldn't have won if Arianna didn't score!"

I said.

It seemed to work pretty well, since everyone now was congratulating Arianna. The award ceremony was in half an hour. The team decided to go get ice cream to celebrate the win. We have gone to the tournament before so we know where to go. I always get Death By Chocolate there, and it's funny cause when you order they say 'One Death'. After we ordered we had about 20 minutes. So we had to leave to get to the ceremony on time. We left and I was eating my ice cream as fast as I could without getting a brain freeze. When we got there I was less than half finished. I figured I could finish it but I guess not! Oh well. As I walked I noticed the small group of yellow jerseys that had formed. I walked over slowly as I was concentrating on eating ice cream.

"Hey guys."

I mumbled still eating.

They continued talking and I didn't care. This ice cream was taking forever to eat so I just threw it away. As I turned around I was tackled by am over-happy Emily.

"KAY WE GOT FIRST PLACE WOOHOO!"

She screamed in my face.

"Calm down will you."

I said getting up from the ground.

"That hurt!"

I said cracking my back.

"Sorry Kay, I'm just really excited!" Em said.

"It's okay just next time try not to be as violent."

I said stifling a laugh.

We continued to chat for a bit while waiting for the ceremony to start.

"Hello ladies and gentlemen! Thank you for attending the Penn State Soccer tournament!"

A man said into a microphone.

"We are proud to announce the winners of this years tournament! The Southern Tier Football Club u17 team!"

The crowd started cheering as we walked on stage. I couldn't help but smile. I looked around and everyone else was too, even our coach. We all hugged and then were presented with our awards. There was one big trophy that they had engraved our club name on. We then were each given little trophies with our names on them. We held them up and smiled as people took pictures. They then called up the second and third place teams and about the same thing happened. I noticed this one girl on the second place team glare at us, but I didn't really care, I was to happy. After the ceremony we went back to the hotel, we had pizza and MORE ice cream we stuffed our selves, and then hit the pool. We played Marco-Polo. (I am beast at this game.) But then the manager guy came out and yelled at us for being to loud. We "promised" to be quiet. After he left though we all burst out laughing. It was the best night ever! Sadly it would be all over tomorrow.
