Darkness

She lay in the middle of the dark room

Her long hair falling across the glass fragments

Scattered on the floor

Her eyes closed, her fingers trembling

City lights stream through the window

But she couldn't see a thing

Tears blurred her vision

All she could see were shadows

Confusing, swirling shapes of black

That haunted her every time

Taunted her

All she sees is darkness.

A dark, endless, suffocating sheet of black

Rushing upon her

Wrapping itself tightly around her

Trapping her

Isolating her

Screams echo in her head

Her own tortured cries

Merry laughter echoes in the distance, but all she hears is

The cold laughter

Of the ones who tore it all apart

All she saw was darkness

All she felt was pain

All she heard were the cackles of glee

Chasing her dreams

All she saw was the darkness

Lying there, in the darkness

Alone. Empty. Deserted. Broken.

Her hand shakes

It slips onto the broken glass

And she screams

Her eyes wide with fear

Her heart racing

Surrounded by the darkness.

Alone. Empty. Deserted. Broken.
