The living room was dim and simple. A grey couch and matching arm chair sit near a small coffee table. A frighteningly dusty T.V. sat in front of it all, backed up to a pristine beige wall.

Someone I've never seen before sat in the arm chair. His charcoal hair barely let his dark, tired eyes peak through. In thought about the detective Light had told me about.. This man was sitting in the way Light described. Matsuda once told me of another who sat like that though.

Matsuda. That's someone I'd like to see. He was always so upbeat. Even if he came off as stupid to others, he never failed to cheer me up...

The dark haired man opened his mouth to speak but the man from before walked in before he could. "Sir, I never did get your name." I asked him, ignoring the man in the chair.

"Just call me Lampton. That goes for you, too, L."

"L? As in the detective originally working on the Kira case?"

Lampton didn't have a chance to speak before L butts in, "Yes. I am L."

Lampton looked down at his watch, "Well, now that you two have met I have business to attend to. I'll be back tomorrow." Lampton walked out the front door without another word.

"You were Light's fiancé, miss ....?"

"(L/N). (Y/N) (L/N). We were going to be married in December.

L looked down at the floor. His troubled face was puzzling to me.

I try and think of what to say for a moment. "Are you alright?"

He simply looks up at me, "Yes, fine. Light was indeed Kira, yes?"

I nod. He stands, slouched, and looks me dead in the eye with his own cold eyes. Quickly, he glanced behind me and furrowed his eyebrows. His eyes widened just as quickly. I turned myself around and saw Light standing in the hallway. Light sighed and closed his eyes. My eyes shifted to L then back to Light. L seemed to be analyzing the situation, calmly, as of he wasn't seeing his killer... our killer.

"L?" Light asks quietly but there's no response. Lights expression turns into a smirk, "You should at least know it wasn't me that killed you."

A slight scowl grows on L's face, barely noticeable but still there nonetheless. Light glances towards me and then walks over, pulling me into his arms when I'm close enough. He whispers loud enough for L to hear, "I have to go. I'll be back."

I look over Light's shoulder and catch a glimpse of L's slight glare.

I wish I had some answers.
