The Phoenix is a Teen Wolf fanfic I am currently working on and I am wondering if I should post it on here. Please let me know what you think!
Scott McCall's POV
"What do you want, Scott?"
I stared at my mom and grinned. "Who says I want anything? Can't I just bring my amazing mom lunch while she works to save the lives of many?"
She gave me a smile and took the brown paper bag out of my hand. "This is gonna come back to bite me, isn't it?" She set the bag behind the desk and gave me a look like she was waiting for me to say more. She knows me so well.
"Okay, okay. I want to-"
"Female, mid-teens, car accident. She's crashing."
I looked over to see doctors rushing through the doors with a girl laying unconscious on a gurney. Blood was everywhere. My mom gave me a look and rushed to her.
Melissa McCall's POV
"Is there a heartbeat?" I looked at the girl laying across the gurney. She was around Scotts age. And she was dying.
"I don't have one." I looked up at the doctor in front of me. We pushed the gurney in place and began working.
"Morris, set up a chest tube."
"I'm on it."
"Temp is 35."
"We need warm fluids, so she isn't hypothermic. Come on, move people! We are not letting this girl die."
Scott's POV
I stood in the doorway, watching my mom work. The machines settled to a constant beeping sound.
"V-fib, she's crashing! Someone get me a cart."
I watched as a man pushed a cart towards my mom. She quickly picked up the handles.
"Charging to 160. Clear." I watched as the girls chest rose in the air with the shock. She fell back down. I couldn't hear a heartbeat.
"Still in v-fib. Charging to 200. Clear."
I turned around and walked down the hallway.
I could feel my heart racing. I hated watching that kind of stuff. I will never understand how my mom does it. I looked up and watched as two officers approached the woman sitting on the bench across from me.
"Excuse me, Ma'm?" One of them said.
"Yes?" She looked up. Her face had cuts and bruises all over it, matching the ones on her arms.
I know it's not right, but I kept staring, listening to the conversation.
"We need to ask you a few questions regarding the accident you and your daughter were in."
What?
I looked up and studied the woman's face. She didn't look like she was very worried about the girl who was dying in the next room.
"What is it officer?" She asked in a very innocent voice.
"We have reason to believe that the accident, wasn't an accident. There is evidence that suggests you caused it. Is this true?"
She stared at the officers in front of her, a look of panic flashed across her face but was then masked with worry.
"Of course not. I would never do anything to harm my daughter."
My heart stopped as her's sped up.
She's lying.
"Ma'm, you're going to have to come with us." The officers stood on both sides of the woman and waited for her to stand. I watched as they walked her down the hallway and headed towards the elevator.
"I have done absolutely nothing wrong. You can't do this!" She shouted as the doors closed.
I stood up and paced back and forth. That woman was trying to kill her daughter. I can't believe it.
"Scott?"
My head snapped up and I saw my mom walking towards me. I could smell the blood before I saw it. Her shirt was covered in it.
"Is she...?" I was afraid to ask.
"No... not yet. But, she will be. She doesn't have much time. There's just too much damage that we can't fix."
"There's nothing you can do?"
She shook her head. "Not me. But... you."
I looked at my mom. She looked exhausted.
I didn't need to ask. I knew what she meant.
"Mom, I- I really don't think I should. If it doesn't take, it will kill her."
"Scott, she'll die either way." She looked around and stepped closer to me. "Look, it's up to you. I'm not saying you have to do it. But you could save this girls life."
I nodded. "I know. I just... I don't want to be the reason she dies."
"Honey, you won't be. This girl will die, even if we don't try it."
I stood in front of my mom, frozen.
"Mom, If I do this and she lives, she will have nowhere to go."
"Her mom made it though. She will just go back with her. Of course, you might need to help her a bit." She gave me a smile, unaware of how bad this girls life really was.
"No, mom. That accident... It wasn't an accident. Her mom was trying to kill her." I watched a look of sadness and fear spread across my mothers face.
"Why?" She asked me.
I shook my head. "I don't know. But there's another thing. The two cops that took her away, I don't think they were really cops. I saw their faces when they turned around and I didn't recognize them."
My mom looked down the hallway in the direction of the girls room.
"What's so special about this girl?"
I stared at the room. I focused my hearing, trying to find a heartbeat. It was faint, but it was there, and fading fast.
"Let's find out." I looked at my mom and nodded. "Make sure no one goes into that room." She gave me a small smile and let me go. I walked towards the room of the girl and closed the door behind me.
