Chapter Twenty Three

Everything happened so quickly I didn’t have time to move. Ryder growled, I’m guessing it was a command because three men were on Paul pinning him to the ground and to my surprise Paul didn’t fight them. His eyes left mine and he looked at the girl named Kelly who was being commanded to stay where she was by Ryder.

I walked up to Ryder, placing a hand on his shoulder, “Don’t hurt him.” I begged.

He looked back at me, “Are you serious? I bet Bret and the other one are not far from here.”

“They do not know where I am.” Paul spoke up only to be punched in the head by one of the men causing me and Kelly to growl.

“What’s all the commotion” Max stops speaking when he saw Paul on the floor. “What the hell happened?” he asked me.

“He’s found his mate and she belongs to Ryder’s pack.” I answered, not even knowing if it was completely correct.

Max laughed, “Your joking?”

“Why would she be joking?” Kelly sniffled a cry. Guess I was completely correct.

“You’re serious, holy shit.” Max ran his hand over his head. “Well I guess welcome.” He smiled over at Paul.

“Welcome?” Ryder snapped, “He will not be welcomed into my pack.”

I got defensive; if Paul found his mate then he would change just like Max and me. “You allowed Max and me.” I argued.

“That’s different you’re my mate.” He said still staring at Paul.

“It is not different Ryder, He is just like us and he has now found his mate, he will change for her as we have change for you and Katherina.” My hands were now on my hips. Now Ryder turned and glared at me, I flinched back for a second but then I got pissed, “Do not look at me like that Ryder or I will take Paul and Max and we will leave. He can stay here with his mate.” I moved my hands crossing my arms across my chest.

“Do not threaten me Katherina.” He commanded in his alpha voice, only it did not work on me and I can’t believe he just called me Katherina.

“Release him or I’ll make you release him,” I snarled at the men holding Paul. Max came and stood by my side. “You have three seconds, One . . . Two . . .”

“K.” Ryder sighed, “Don’t threaten them they are just doing as they are told.”

I crossed my arms again and looked up at Ryder, “he can stay here with his mate?” I asked, if it was a no then I was going to say three and get their hands off Paul and walk away from them, including my mate.

Ryder looked at me for a few moments, “After they are mated yes.” He answered.

“Why after they are mated?” Max asked.

“I do not trust him.” He replied easily. Then motioned his head for the guys to let go of Paul, the second he stood up the girl was in his arms.

“Awe.” I said causing a glare from not only Paul but from Ryder as well. “What it’s cute, were all lovey dovey now with our mates.” I winked at Paul.

“I cannot stay,” Paul spoke up, his mate looking at him with a questionable look, “yet, I need to make sure Bret does not find this area. I need to lead him on a different trail away from here.”
