It's Christmas Eve, tomorrow is Christmas and Mori has planned for us to go to the Christmas festival together. And I am actually born on Christmas day so I'll be sweet 16. So I'll be telling Mori about it during the festival.
I place the star on top of the Christmas tree, me and mum had some of her freshly baked gingerbread men.
We sit in front of granddad's ashes and we place a Christmas candle and we pray before bowing.
Me and mum sit in front of the TV watching the news seeing what's going on with Japan.
I have actually never been selfish during Christmas time, I like my Christmas presents as birthday presents as well. I look over to the tree smiling seeing the presents. I brought mum a brand new cooking set, some oven gloves and some scented candles. I have no clue what she brought me.
And what I brought for Mori, well I didn't but it but I knitted him a while wooly scarf and a card saying 'To my boyfriend on Christmas'.
I say goodnight to my mum when we go to bed at 10PM. I lay in bed getting really excited about tomorrow, it's Christmas, it's my birthday and I'm going to have most of the evening with Mori!
I smile and role around in bed squealing quietly so I don't annoy more. This is actually my first boyfriend...I hope I don't mess anything up. I stop rolling around and look up to ceiling. I can't think of things like that. What of I jinx it?
Stop it Akane... don't think about it... I shut my eyes tightly and whisper to myself on repeat "go to sleep. Go to sleep. Go to sleep."
I yawned and sat up and looked at my clock on my wall. It reads 10:08 AM.
I got up and changed into a pair of leggings and my snowman knitwear jumper. Mum was up in the living room waiting for me to open my presents first.
I made us some hit chocolate and pasted mum her presents and I started opening mine.
Mum had got me a new book to read, a book about sexual intercourse, I gave her a glare on that one, a dress and butterfly earrings.
By the time it was 5 I got ready to go out with Mori. I put on my new earrings and put on a coat. I got the present and the card at the ready.
The doorbell went off at the door. I opened the door and smile when I saw Mori. He wore a pair of jeans and a jacket with a hat.
"Mum I'm going" I say.
"Alright then, bye-bye you two" Mum saves and waves us off as we start walking to the festival.
We hold hands as we walk, I bury my face into my scarf. I looked at Mori seeing his exhales go into steam in the air.
"Mori I think we should swap gifts" I say
He turns to me "Okay"
"Here, you open yours first" I say and pass him his gift and card.
He opens the card and I see a smile on his lips and he opens his gift.
"A scarf? Did you knit this?" He asks me looking up to me.
"Yeah, that's why all the plasters" I say showing him my fingers.
He smiles and wraps the scarf around his neck and then passes me a gift.
I tore the paper off the box and opening it up see a locket and a pair of matching earrings.
"Mori...it's beautiful" I blush.
"Really?" He asks.
"Yeah" I smile nodding putting the box in my pocket but I put on the locket.
Holding hands again we entered the festival.
We walked up the steps carefully trying not to trip. We get some hot chocolate to drink, we got our fortunes told, we both got good luck and we tied the to the tree.
We played hook the duck, we tried to win a goldfish. I was having a great time.
Holding Mori's hand tightly we made our way to the firework display.
We watched the red, green and gold fireworks go off, they were so beautiful, especially the colours they chose.
"Mori I have something to tell you" I say as we made our way back out of the festival.
"What is it?" He asks.
"Actually today...is my birthday" I smile.
"Y-Your birthday?" He looks at me in surprised.
I nodded.
"H-Happy birthday" He smiles "I have actually one more gift"
"You do?" I stop and ask looking up to him.
He nods and gently cups my cheeks.
Oh?
He leans down eyes shuts, I shut my eyes feeling his lips on mine.
