As the ghoul lunged toward Haise, he sprung back, aware of her oncoming attack. Mutsuki then landed a hit on her with his quinque. He got slashed a bit on his arm but was fine.

"You know guys, it couldn't hurt to have some backup." He said.

"Nah, we can do this ourselves. Think of how much we'll be praised when we pull this off." Urie said, wanting more than anything just to get a promotion for who knows why.

"You sure are a cocky bunch... I'll just have to teach you a lesson." The ghoul jumped in the air and prepared to land square on Saiko. Saiko blocked herself with her arms, knowing it wouldn't be enough. Luckily, Shirazu jumped in and blocked the oncoming tentacles with his nutcracker quinque.

After she was saved, the chubby bluenette activated her kagune and struck the ghoul over and over with her sharp tentacles as the binge eater tried to fight back but couldn't.

She and Shirazu started working together to take her down. It was going well even when she found an opening to attack and flung Shirazu's quinque out of his hand. He quickly picked it back up and kept fighting. Haise was consistently trying to jump in on the battle but always got thrown somewhere by the ghoul's haywire kagune.

Touka continued to take orders for the crowds of customers entering the café. A lot of the customers had taken their food and drinks with them to watch the battle, making the establishment a lot emptier than before.

Still, Touka was worried about Haise. She didn't know how well he was doing in the battle or even if the investigators were going to win. Her vision of the battle was limited, since it was across the street and also on the roof of a building, but she could see Haise practically being tossed around like a rag doll. Whenever he got a hit in on the ghoul, she returned it with twice the power.

She couldn't help but cringe while watching. The Kaneki she used to know would've been able to take down this ghoul easily, mainly because he was a kakuja. As Touka began washing cups and remembered the times when kaneki would come to Anteiku all the time with his friend Hide. She didn't notice it at first, but she felt tears falling down her cheeks and quickly wiped them off, despite no one being there to see.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that Haise wasn't getting up. He was just lying there unconscious. The rest of his squad continued to hold off the enemy ghoul with fleeting energy.

Touka could sense how desperate they were becoming and instantly ran out of the café and to the building. When she got to the top and spotted their foe, she stood up straight and released her kagune.
