Aly's pov

"So let me get this straight, dude comes from a million light years away, and he wants to go to a thrift shop?" Tuck was saying. I rolled my eyes,

"At least it isn't someone's house, or a bar or something." I said.

"Point Aly." Munch said. We started to cross the street, "Wait! Guys we have to look both ways before crossing the street!" We laughed.

As we walked into the store, I realized why we were here. I'm cooler than everyone, I know.

"I guess  a thrift store is a pretty cool place to get stuff for cheap, maybe our destructive living friend wants to actually pay for the damage he is bound to cause." I said with a pointed look at Munch's backpack. He beeped twice.

"Well I guess that blows your theory." Tuck managed to say through laughter.

"Oh, hush you!" I retorted. Then chaos ensued. Ooh, big word.

Pieces of instruments and tchotchkes flew around the store to unite with our rocket-building friend, and I for one, was creeped out. The owner yelled something unintelligible, and so, like the reasonable people we are, we ran.

"Are you crazy?!?!?!?!?!" Munch screamed as we ran into the alley across the street.

"Is that even a question?" I tried to say, but couldn't, for there was way to much air in my mouth.

"Never mind that, let's see what we got!" Alex waved off Munch, and pulled me over to the trash cans by the arm. I felt goose bumps rise on my arm and prayed he didn't notice. As our new found friend rose from his rocket, we found he looked a lot like an owl, with big bright eyes, flickering on and off again. With stick-like legs that seemed to fragile to walk on, but with a metal exterior that seemed too strong to bust.

"We need a name. My interim monologue is going here and I can't very well call it our rocket-building friend whenever mention of it comes up!!!" I said.

Alex's pov

Interim monologue? And she's smart too... Snap out of it you..!

"We can't name it!!! If you name it, you'll get attached to it!!!" Munch successfully snapped me out of my trance, I hope Aly didn't notice.

"Oh! Oh! I got it!!! How 'bout 'Laser Space Ninja?' Eh? Eh?" Tuck suggested, completely ignoring Munch entirely. I followed suit.

"Really. That''s all you've got?" I looked over at Aly, and she was in deep thought.

"Yes! I got it! Echo. His name is Echo." She said definitively. I watched the realization pass over each of our faces in turn, I knew she had to be the coolest person I knew.
