Aly's pov
When we arrived at the scene of the crime. No just kidding, but seriously the cops should've watched this little hell hole. It wasn't like the people here were bad, they just weren't good. Anyway, we got there safely, and without any drama, or so I thought, and. We locked up our bikes.
"Heyo, losers, and Alyss. You're looking hot today." Spencer, the school popular kid, and teen heartthrob at this school. I don't like him, he's a real jerk.
"Go away." I answered without a second look. I glanced at Alex with mild curiosity. He clenched his fists and glared in Spencer's direction. I guess it was because Spencer was his childhood tormentor. He stopped bullying him after I showed up, but it seems like he never would really lay off of them completely.
"Well, I'm off to challenge algebra, yay. Alex, you comin'?" I asked.
Alex's pov
I clenched my fists and glared at Spencer. I can't stand that he flirts with Aly. I know it's dumb, everybody knows that Aly hates his guts, but still. UGH!
"...Alex, you coming?" Aly asked me.
"Uhh... Yeah. Let's go." I said. We walked down the hallway, and I looked at Aly sheepishly, I wondered if she had seen me lose my cool back there. It has become almost unbearable to not tell her how I feel, but being forced to telling your best friend something that may ruin your friendship by your other best friend just doesn't seem okay.
Aly's pov
We finally got to math class, first hour of the day, after what seemed like a long, silent, awkward walk down the hall way. We were in almost every class with him, but I was in Musical Theatre, a class where we put on a show, and he was in Visual Arts. The teacher thought that it would be a good idea to put him and the school popular girl together, which I think is funny. Her name is Emma. She is my tormentor, the only one who goes out of her way to embarrass me. I don't think I ever did anything to her, but Tuck says it's because she is crushing on Alex. She still thinks it is a good idea to blatantly make fun of me in front of him, though. After all of our morning classes, we always meet up with Munch and Tuck, my other favorite person, and my brother. Today, lunch was seemed no different. Since I don't have any friends who are girls, people think that I'm like playing the flirt, or am a flirt. Anyway, we went to our normal table in the back corner of the cafeteria. When I got over there I heard Alex interrogating Munch,
"Why are you organizing your ketchups?" He said incredulously.
"Because it makes them easier to get to, at least I don't eat my french fries with a fork, like Aly!" Munch retorted.
"Hey now, somehow I end up the weird one?!" I said, laughing.
"I think we all know you are the weird one, Aly." Tuck said rolling his eyes.
"Ah, but you know you love me." I said, sitting down, next to Alex. I saw Tuck give Alex a look. What am I missing? I thought to myself.
"Hey, weirdo!" I heard someone yell, I turned to find the one, the only, Emma. She walked up to me, and with a wicked, flirty grin at Alex, she said,
"Why don't you have any friends who are girls? Poor girl, you can't even get along with people of your own gender, how are your ever going to get a boyfriend, Aly?" She said, "We really are worried about you aren't we, girls?" She said at her gaggle of popular, scandalously dressed girls who nodded enthusiastically.
"First question; I don't like the girls who go here very much, they are vicious, conniving and annoyingly vain. Second question; I don't need a boy to be happy. Also, I had a little trouble hearing that last part through all your makeup. Buh-bye now." I waved with fake cordialness dripping from my words. There's that I guess. I wish she wasn't so mean, then we would have a shot at being friends. Maybe Alex and Emma have a history that's none of my business. So, naturally, I asked,
"Hey Alex, do you and Emma have a history or something? Cuz I'm sensing some hostility from her." It had been a long time since I had gotten here, so I got some laughs from Tuck and Munch.
"Alex..." Tuck warned. This was getting to be an interesting conversation.
"Well... Yeah. We never dated or anything, but she's always had this thing for me, an until you showed up, I liked her back and I thought she was nice." Alex said, quickly, like he didn't want anybody to hear the words coming out of his mouth.
"Alex!" Tuck accused, I was missing something I knew it.
"Tuck?" I asked sweetly.
"Oh no." Tuck said, he had been caught, "Umm... Well he may or may not have been forbidden from telling you this by both me and Munch, so that he didn't get sent to the guillotine for betraying the French Republic."
"Oh? I don't think he will be the one sent to shame anymore." Munch mourned.
"No. It's okay, I'm glad you guys told me." I said, I was still missing something, and then I remembered, "until you showed up, I liked her back" Wait... Does that mean he likes me?!?!?! Do I like him? I thought and zoned out for a while.
