Sumire silently opened the door of their house. It had been several days since Sakuno and Ryoma broke up. Everyone really had a hard time accepting that Ryoma, the usual cold and stoic person who seem to not have a care in the world could do such a thing. They know how arrogant and cold he could be but they didn't think he could actually do this. But then again, he doesn't have a care in the world.
"*sob**sob*" the grandma could hear the echoing sounds of her granddaughter.
Sumire couldn't help but feel worried about her only granddaughter and family. Sakuno is a young and kind girl, but Sumire don't understand why her granddaughter have to go through all these problems. She doesn't deserve this.
"Sakuno dear, I'm home." She said loud enough to be heard in the house.
She heard the sobbing stopped and quickly turned into a fake happy tone.
"Obaa-chan! Welcome home!" She heard her granddaughter as she walked towards the kitchen where she assumed her granddaughter would be.
"Sakuno, how was your day?" Sumire asked as she saw Sakuno cooking something.
"Obaa-chan, it's boring." She pouted clearly putting off a fake happy aura. Sumire can't help but notice her granddaughter's puffy eyes and red nose which she presumed came from crying all day.
"Sakuno..." Sumire said her granddaughter's name worriedly.
Sakuno walked towards her grandma and took her two hands holding it.
"Obaa-chan, it's been days already. I have to attend my classes or I will have to repeat the year. And I'm sure Tomo-chan and the others are worried."
"Sakuno, I'm just worried about you. And if your worried about Osakada then she's always welcome..." Sumire reasoned out.
"Obaa-chan, I know you're just worried about me, but I'm fine. I mean I'm already 16! I can handle myself!" Sakuno said.
"16 is too young!"
"Besides, being in a relationship with Ryoma-kun...a part of me always have known that it will never work out, and sooner or later...we'll eventually break up." Sakuno looked down. "It just so happens that it ended sooner than expected." She added putting on a sad smile.
Sakuno was always like this. Always thinking others before herself. She's been keeping a straight face to keep everyone from worrying. Sakuno though clumsy was always so mature for her age. Ever since her parents died, she had always been a strong and independent woman. And she was just 6 years old at that time.
But she guessed it would be for the better. She knows Sakuno more than anyone else. If she's like this, it means she doesn't want to run away anymore. She's gone past her limit of making everyone worry over her. She's scared to stress her out even more. So with a heavy heart, she agreed.
"I guess it can't be helped." Sumire admitted defeat as Sakuno's face lighten up.
"Honto?! Arigatou, Baa-chan!" She said and hugged her grandma.
"Don't worry about it...Aahh, I smell something burning!" Sumire said and broke free from her granddaughter and headed to the dish Sakuno was cooking.
"Aahh! The curry!" Sakuno panicked as her grandma put down the tiny flame.
"Gomene, Obaa-chan...now we don't have anything for supper." Sakuno apologized.
"*sigh* Don't worry about it..." Sumire said."I'm used to it anyways." She joked.
"Mou!" Sakuno once again pouted.
"Hahaha! Here, just buy me some needed ingredients." Sumire laughed and gave Sakuno the money. "I'll be the one cooking this time." She added.
"H-hai." She said and headed towards the door.
"And don't get lost on the way~!" Her grandma said.
"Mou~!" Sakuno yelled as she could hear her grandma laugh.
Sakuno couldn't help but smile at her grandma. Her grandma had always been there. May it be tiny or big problems. Sometimes she ask the gods why she was given a good and kind grandma and friends, she doesn't even remember a single reason to have one.
"Aack!" Sakuno heard as she bumped into someone.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!" A delinquent yelled at the timid girl.
There, in front of her gathered 3 men who looked like addicts. They looked scary.
"G-gomenasai!" Sakuno apologized, panicking and just wanting to leave and escape.
"Sh*t! I think I just had an injury!" One of them acted.
"*mumble**mumble*" Sakuno being the timid one she is, mumbled.
"Huh? What was that? We couldn't hear you." The other delinquent said.
"Hey, you're a cutie. Why don't you just come with us and..." delinquent 1 said. "Have a good time with us!" Delinquent 2 said as he pulled Sakuno towards a dark alley.
'Someone, help! ' she shut her eyes, and silently prayed. Suddenly, she heard a punching sound, and opened her eyes. There, she saw the unconscious bodies of the delinquents...and a boy around her age with dark green hair, and cat-like eyes
"Let's run." The boy said and held her hands. They ran and ran and when they thought they've gone far enough, they stoped.
"Those delinquents sure made it a little too far." The said boy catching his breath. "Oi! You alright?" He added and gave Sakuno a bottle of water.
"H-hai! A-anou...thank you for saving me awhile ago." She said.
"Don't worry about it." He smiled. "By the way, do you usually walk through that street?" he added.
"I-I just happened to walked that way to buy some groceries."
"Aahh, then be careful next time ok? Lately those delinquents have been going too far." He said, smiling at her.
The guy checked Sakuno if she really was alright. When he was sure enough that she was perfectly fine, he smiled and said, "Looks like your just fine."
"H-hai..." Sakuno just looked at him, quite shy about the situation. This boy was really nice, she even thought.
"Well, I'll be going now, then." He smiled at made his way. Sakuno couldn't even utter a word.
And she wasn't even able to make a proper thank you appreciation to him.
