"No I'm serious Mary just don't do it I don't want you to get hurt!" My mom yelled over the phone as I walked down east 37th avenue. I turned into an alley way to go to the next street.
"Mom I will be fine it's just a friends house. It's not like I don't know where I'm going." I answered back over the phone.
"Please Mary you ..." The call ended before she could finish her sentence. I looked at my phone kind of confused. I rolled my eyes putting it in my back pocket looking both ways at the street then crossing. The street was so quiet it was usual though. It was late and people in the town I live in, have tales about night creatures. Creatures that come and kill you, eat you, or even take you. I yawned and stopped in front of the restaurant Frank's Soup and Bread. I walked forward as my warm hand touched the cold glass door. As the door opened there was a sound of a shotgun reloading. I jumped forward as the sound quickly turned into a shot gun fire. I pushed myself to my feet and put my hands on my hips. A seventeen year old stood behind the cash register. He had short brown hair with a black suit on and shoes to match. His eyes were as grey as smoke, and his face was so frightened he looked like he was about to fire the gun again. His name was Luke Anderson.
"What were you thinking Luke!" I yelled walking toward him. As I stood in front of him I looked back. The once glass door was now shards of glass scattered across the floor.
"I'm sorry Mary I thought you were someone else." Luke said as he still held the shotgun. I took the gun and held it to my side.
"Who else wears a green dress?" I asked pausing for a second "Adding to that who goes out this late except for me?"
"Well grandpa told me Serial Killers come out this late." Luke said as he looked down.
"I don't care what your grandpa says I'm not a killer and you know that now clean that glass up." I said pointing behind me at the glass. I turned around as there was a crunch of glass behind me. I held the shotgun up to see Sue standing on the other end with her eyes closed.
"Holy shit Mary put the gun down." Sue said as she opened her eyes.
"And you yelled at me." Luke said smugly.
"You shot the gun off!" I answered putting the gun back to my side.
"Is that why there is glass all over." Sue questioned walking past me over to Luke.
"Uh, yeah." Luke said taking a step back from her.
"Well I guess you can just clean it up then." Sue said walking past him to the back. Sue had bright red hair that was cut to her shoulders. She was tall and nice, but could be mean when she had to be. She had a scar running down her arm from being attacked. Almost everyone had a scar from being attacked. I had just moved here a month ago and I hadn't been attacked. Sue thought it was weird. But since my mom found out about everyone being attacked she's been acting weird. But she knows I can protect myself. I laid the shotgun on the counter and Luke walked past me to clean up the glass shards. I walked to the back and handed Mr. Anderson a note from Mrs. Clifford.
"Thank you Mary I will see you tomorrow be careful on your way home." Mr. Anderson said smiling and waving me goodbye. I walked out of the back and Luke was sweeping the glass up. I walked past him and out the door smiling and saying goodbye. I walked across the street and into the alley. All the sudden there was a howl. I stopped in place as I could hear claws tap on the ground from walking. Luke must not have heard the howl because he didn't come out. I slowly turned around and saw a large wolf with icy grey and white fur. It's eyes a bright blue color. I slowly walked backwards as it came closer. Then it stopped. It stood there for a second staring at me. Then it ran at me. I turned and took off toward my house making small short cuts on the way. I took a deep breath and ran into a bar. As I ran in a man stopped me.
"Sorry girl, 21 and over." The man said stepping in front of me.
"I'm sorry can you tell me where the bathroom is?" I asked looking around. He pointed to his left and glared at me. I smiled at him and ran to the restroom. I looked around and no one was in there. I looked in the mirror and took my grey contacts off. I put them in a little container I carried and walked out the bathroom looking down. I went to leave the bar and the man grabbed my shoulder. He turned me towards him. I looked up at his light grey eyes and they widened. I just blinked and turned walking out before being tackled to the ground by the wolf. I closed my eyes and turned my head to the side. The wolf growled and its nails dug into my arms. The pain was making me want to scream but if I screamed then the wolf would be killed and I would be burned. I opened my eyes and the wolf growled taking steps off me. I sat up the two of us keeping eye contact with each other. I whispered something under my breath and the wolf slowly fell. I stood up and walked over and picked it up. I walked back to my house running to my room and closing the door and locking it behind me.It was surprisingly small, but the size deceived its weight. I laid the wolf down on my bed and felt my arms whine from the pain as blinked. The wolf woke up and looked around confused. "Turn back." I whispered. The wolf turned its head like it didn't know what I meant. "Turn back or I will tell everyone what you are." The wolf whimpered then turned back to its human form and covering up as they turned.
"Fine witch." She said with a deeper voice. She had blue eyes still and had black hair. I turned and grabbed a random dress from my closet. I threw it at her and turned around so she could put it on.
"So werewolf I guess you weren't planning on telling me a name were you?" I questioned as I waited for her to put the dress on.
"No I'm not you witch." she hissed through her teeth " You can turn now."
"Well I guess that must suck cause I'm going to have to tell everyone who the wolf is then." I said turning and getting into my dresser next to the bed. I pulled out a gun and pointed at her. "I'll just tell them it was in self defense."
"You are a real witchy bitch." She said as a small growl followed.
"You know what I remember you from school, your name is Mika isn't it? Your really quiet at school. But that's because you know everyone because you've attacked them." I said as I waved the gun around but still pointed it at her. "But I'm the real bitch aren't I."
"Know what you don't know why I do it." She said as she looked at me. "I mark everyone to tell myself if I need to watch out for them. Like you. Your mark as the first witch so that's new." I looked at my shoulders to see small cuts on my shoulders only.
"So you seen what people do then you attack and tag them with scars." I said explaining it to myself.
"Yes but I need to go or my parents will worry then that would be horrible." She said standing on my bed before turning back into a wolf. She growled at me before jumping from the window and running down the street taking the first right turn.
