I know now
That even the most loving souls
Cannot coax
An unwilling heart
Out of the cave in which they roam.
For unwilling souls are always parallel.
Close, yet never together.
My soul and his felt as such,
I felt this strong connection,
As if we were meant to be together,
Yet we had collided at all the wrong times
Maybe a day, maybe a month, maybe a year
Or perhaps another lifetime
Should we have met.
But all I know is that
The universe loves to play cruel tricks
On the ones most deserving of love.
The undeserving ones, well,
They always get what they want.
