I dedicate this chapter to MattyBellz
You're awesome, #transpower!Matt's POV:
School's finally over for the year. Every summer is usually the same; sitting in my room, only leaving the house to hang out with Chris and Tom. But this year will be different. I'm probably going to spend most of my time visiting Dom this summer. It's going to be awesome and there's only one way that it could get better-if Dom was healthy. There's nothing I want more in the universe than for him to get better. He's a good person and he doesn't deserve to be so sick.
I'm sitting on the floor in the middle of the room playing with effects on my guitar amp when I realize that I haven't visited Dom in awhile. I've almost been putting it off because of what happened last week. I really care about him and I know that he feels the same. We just can't be together. I wish that it was different.
I turn off my amp and unplug my guitar, carefully placing it on my bed. I slip on my checkered Vans and jog down the stairs.
"I'm going out!" I shout, not knowing where my dad is. "Be back in a few hours!" I leave the house and jog to the subway station. I usually walk to the hospital, but it feels like a million degrees outside. I'm only on the train for a few minutes before I arrive at my stop. I don't usually take the train. I honestly hate it because I'm kind of claustrophobic. I jog up the the stairs leading out of the station and make my way into the hospital. My heart is pounding because I'm so damn nervous. Almost every time I visit Dom something happens. That won't stop me from visiting though. The elevator ride up to his room seems to take eternity. I just have an odd feeling... Like something is going to happen... I step out of the lift and walk down the hall, my palms sweating. I knock on the door to Dom's room and his rough voice tells me to come in. I slowly open the door and step inside, closing it behind me. I look around his room and it's oddly... Bare. He used to just have things lying around; CD's, book, clothes. But everything is packed away.
"Is something wrong?" I ask, sitting down in the chair next to his bed.
"Sort of," he mumbles, rubbing the back of his neck. "They've told me that I'm well enough to go home, but know what happened with my parents. Right now the doctors are trying to talk some of my other family members into letting my stay with them, but no one is willing to take me in."
Wait- he's doing better? I take a good look at him and notice a few things. He's a lot less pale and not quite as thin as when I first met him. But that's not the only thing I'm thinking about...
"Dom," I say, leaning forward. "Why don't you move in with me and my dad? We have some extra rooms and there would be no problem taking you to your treatments."
"I don't know about that," he mutters. "I wouldn't want to place a burden on you and your family."
"Are you kidding? You'd probably make my life a million times better. My dad seriously wouldn't mind," I say, reaching over and placing my hand on his. "I insist."
"There's no talking you out of this, huh?" he laughs dryly.
"I'll call my dad right now," I say, standing out and pulling my phone out of my pocket. I leave his room and lean on the wall outside. I tap my dad's contact and the phone starts ringing.
"Yes?" a voice says on the other side.
"Um, hey dad," I mumble. "So you know about my friend Dominic right?"
"Yeah, what's up? Is something wrong?" he asks.
"Sort of," I laugh dryly. "You see, the doctors say that he's healthy enough to go home for awhile, but his parents kicked him out. Um, do you think that he could move in with us?"
Dad exhales sharply before answering. "I don't know, Matthew. That's quite a request. He'd have to go in for treatment rather often and you know how busy I am. Paul's going off to collage so he'd only be able to help out for the summer."
"So I get a car," I say, my voice full of desperation. "Dad, please."
He sighs and takes a moment before speaking again. "Okay. Fine. How soon is he able to leave?"
"Um, let me ask," I mumble, trying to hide my excitement. I step into Dom's room. "When are they letting you leave?" I ask him, keeping my voice quite.
"They said as soon as I can find someone who'll take me in, I can go," he responds.
I nod and step back outside. "Whenever," I tell dad.
"How about I pick you two up as soon as I finish up work here?" he asks.
"That would be awesome!" I gasp.
He laughs slightly. "Okay I'll be there in about a half hour then. I'll see you two soon."
"Okay!" I say, no longer trying to contain my joy. Dom is moving in with me. I quickly walk back into the room, absolutely beaming. "He'll be here to pick us up in a half hour. Are you all packed?" He simply nods in response. "I'll go get a doctor then."
Dom's POV:
The doctors don't have a problem with me moving in with Matt and his dad. They said as long as I'm well taken care of and can make it to my treatments, then I've found an ideal place to go. Matt helps me finish packing and I could not be more excited. Matt's dad shows up and he seems oddly familiar. I'll have to ask Matt about him once we're alone. We slowly make our way to his car which is actually very nice. It's clearly expensive.
After a few minutes in the car, I realize that we're heading towards the nice part of the city. You know, where all of the big expensive houses are. We pull into the drive way of what I can only assume is their house. My jaw drops slightly as I slowly turn to Matt who is sitting next to me in the back seat. The house appears to be three floors and is absolutely massive. He notices me looking at him and blushes.
"Shut up," he mumbles, turning to look out the window. I just laugh slightly and shake my head. We get out of the car and Matt insists that he carries every single one of my bags. His arms are absolutely full by the time he has everything situated.
"Matthew, why don't you give Dominic the room next to yours?" his dad says, opening the door. "Are you okay with being on the second floor?" he asks, turning to me.
"Won't be a problem," I respond with a smile. We step inside and I'm taken aback by the main hall. The ceiling goes up to the second floor and an absolutely massive staircase is the main view point in the room. Matt nods for me to follow him up and I don't hesitate. I stop at the first step, turning to look back at Matt's dad.
"Thank you so much Mr. Bellamy," I say with a huge grin.
"Please, call me George," he responds,
walking to another part of the house.I turn back around and follow Matt upstairs. I've been strong enough to walk around on my own, but the stairs will take some getting used to. Matt walks into a room which I'm pretty sure is safe to assume it's where I'll be staying.
"Holy fuck," I mutter as I look around the room. The floors are a dark wood and the walls are a light grey. The room is filled with dark blue and green accents. The bed has black blankets and pillows and there's a white couch in the corner. And the room is absolutely massive. Matt drops my bags into the bed looks over to me. He laughs slightly at my reaction.
"C'mon, let me show you the rest of the house," he says, still laughing slightly.
I follow him out of the room and I can only think about one thing:
I'm moving in with Matt...
