As promised, Mark takes you out the next day. First place you visit is the school.
"I can vaguely remember this place," you tell him, as you enter the gates of the bustling campus.
"We used to park right there," he points to a taken spot just near the building. "Looks like there's a new king in campus," he chuckles, looking at the group huddled in front of the car in his usual parking space.
You giggle, remembering now, how the both of you would catch everyone's attention once you get out of the car. Your friends would be waiting by that same place where the group is. "We were quite the couple, weren't we?"
"Yes, we were." He smiles and drapes his arm around your shoulder.
You notice some students look your way, some smiling and waving, some questioning. "Just like in our first day."
"You remember?" He asks, surprised.
You nod.
"Good. Let's go to the field. It's where you usually go to after classes, for cheerleading practice."
The field welcomes you with more memories. You remember leading the squad. You see Phoebe and Sasha and the rest of the team. You can also remember the soccer team practicing on the field. Peniel.
"How's Peniel?" You ask him suddenly, making him look at you nervously. "What? I remember him. He's in the soccer team and...." then you remember you've kissed him. "Oh..."
"Oh?"
"What happened?" You can't seem to remember why.
"We had a.....fight....no...more of like a ... cool off."
"Huh? Why?"
"I did something really terrible."
"Mark Tuan! Did you cheat on me?"
He laughs. "No, of course not. I can't do that to you." Then his expression becomes serious. "Something happened to you during our first month in senior year. I was so stupid...I ...."
"You left me," you feel the pain now of what happened back then. But what caused him to turn his back on you?
"I'm sorry, Elysa. I swear I'm never gonna do that again."
"I know." You hug him and peck him on the lips.
"I love you, baby. You know that right?"
"Yes. Mark. And I love you, too. Although I still need to know why." You joke.
"Hey!" He pretends to be hurt, but then smiles again when you kiss him.
He takes you around campus, with you remembering bits and pieces of events that have transpired in those areas.
"I'm hungry." Mark finally says, rubbing his stomach. "Let's go to our usual hang out." He pulls you to his car and drives to a cafe nearby. "This is where we go to with our friends after school."
'The Lounge' - it says on the big signboard outside. The smell of delicious food meets you as you enter the resto.
"Remember anything?" He asks.
"Yes....banana shake." You recall.
He chuckles again. You sit at the table near the window. It's the spot you usually sit with his friends and yours whenever you come here.
"Mark, when are we going to my house?"
"Uhm? Later." He becomes nervous again.
"I'm just excited what I could be remembering once we get there." You really are. You want to know what good memories lie in wait. Recalling all that happened in high school, although not all good, makes you anticipate what is waiting for you in your house.
