'MARK'. He's the only person you remember....so far. You look at the other people in the room, but you don't know their names. Somehow, you feel happy to see them.

"Mark," you call him again. He's still sitting on the bed beside you, clutching your hand. His cheeks are wet with tears, but he's smiling.

"Yes, baby. What is it? Are you hungry? Do you want something?"

"Where am I? What happened?"

They all look at each other, as if waiting for the other to give answers. You look at them, too, puzzled.

"Babe, can't you remember?"

You shake your head. The last thing you remember, you were in Alaska with Mark. He asked you to marry him. You raise your hand up in front of your face, but the ring isn't on your finger. You look at Mark questioningly.

"Are you looking for this?" He asks, putting up a ring that is dangling from the necklace around your neck.

You nod.

He removes the ring from the necklace and puts it on your finger. "There. This belongs here." He says and smiles.

"Thank you."

"What happened to me, Mark? Why am I here? Did anything happen when we were in Alaska?" You ask softly.

"Babe," he looks nervous. The three other people in the room look the same. The girl keeps on biting her nails. "It's better if you rest for now. You need to regain your strength so we can go home."

"Home?" You close your eyes and try to picture what your home looks like. An image of a big house appear...a very big house, maybe a mansion. You see maids tending to your needs, cars parked outside in the huge garage, a wide pool.

"Yes, honey." The older woman says. "We miss you at home. So, please, get well, ok?"

Who is she? Is she my mom? No, I clearly remember what my mom looks like. Mark's?

You just nod.

That night, you dream of the time you spent in Alaska with Mark. You looked sad in the dream, but happy at the same time. When you get up in the morning, you wonder why you felt heartbroken.

Mark is the only one in the room with you. He's sleeping on the couch across the room. You move a little, to see him clearly. His breathing is even and his face peaceful. He must have felt you looking at him, he stirs on the chair and opens his eyes slowly.

You smile at the boy looking straight at you.

"Good morning, Baby." He smiles back, standing up and ruffling his hair.

"Good morning, Mark."

"Are you hungry?"

Your stomach suddenly rumbles and your taste buds crave for something sweet. So, you nod.

"What do you want?" He walks up beside you and takes your hand.

"Cake...chocolate...with lots of icing..."

His eyebrow goes up, as if not sure if you're kidding or not. "Are you sure?"

"Uh-huh..."

"Ok." He takes out his phone and talks to his mom. "Mom, what time are you coming? Can you bring some cake for Elysa? ... Yes. Thanks."

Just then, the doctor and two nurses come in.

"It's great to see you awake, Elysa. How are you feeling?"

"I'm ok. I guess."

"Do you still feel pain here?" He touches your side and you cringe to the sharp pain his finger causes when he presses it down. "Let me see."
