"Stay here. We'll go in first," one man says to Mark. "You stay here with him," he nods at another man. There are six of them, five approach the house stealthily. The bushes and trees give them cover.

Mark stays in the car, his head on the steering wheel, trying to think but couldn't. "Please, Elysa."

After only a few minutes, one of the men come running out. "They're all dead in there."

"What? Elysa?" Mark's heart starts to pound faster and harder. He is about to go towards the house when the man stops him.

"There ain't no girl in there."

Just then, a police car catches up with them. "Are they in there?" The police asks Mark. It's the same cop who went to Elysa's house earlier.

The man who just came out told him what he saw. The others come out of the house, too.

The cop is on the radio calling out to the other officers.

"Are you sure she's not there?" Mark asks the man again. "Are there no trap doors or anything?"

"It looks like somebody took her. We found her shoes." One of them who just came out hands Mark the shoes Elysa was wearing during the graduation.

"Let us handle this," the police goes near Mark. "You need to go home. We'll update you soon. This is no place for a boy like you."

There's nothing he could do, he's just frustrated to think that. His dad's men escort him back to Elysa's house where the three are still waiting, worried and expectant.

"Did you find her?" Aunt Mary's shaking body opens the door for him.

Mark, with his head bent, shakes his head and walk straight to Elysa's room. He lays on her bed, crying.

_____

Months have passed and still no news on the whereabouts of Elysa. Mark cancelled his scholarship in New York. He still can't get over Elysa's disappearance. He would dream about her at night. He thought he saw her in the supermarket, in the park, at the beach, back at her house...turned out, he was just hallucinating. He has to take antidepressants.

Mrs. Tuan is getting worried at what her son is becoming. He'd lock himself up in his room for days, only coming out to eat.

His father told him he is trying his best to look into her, but that didn't help Mark's condition much. A psychiatrist would visit him once a week. Mark would always say the same thing - I miss her.

Aunt Mary is thinking of the worst...maybe she's already dead. But, Mark won't buy it. He feels she's alive somewhere.

He would call the PI everyday to check whether or not he's found anything.

One day, the PI calls him.

"I think I found her."

Mark jumped out of bed, "Where? Are you sure it's her?" Hope comes to him again.

"A CCTV caught her walking in an airport in Shanghai."

"Shanghai?" That's like the other side of the earth.

"I checked on the flights, she must've used a different name."

"Shit! How can we find her?"

"I have some people checking on all the flights as we speak. We're gonna find her, Mark. Don't worry. I'll call you again later."

Mark smiles for the first time in six months. He monitors his phone every second to check if the PI calls back. He takes a shower, gets dressed and goes down to the kitchen to get something to eat.

He receives another call in the afternoon. "We're positive it's her. She took the plane to Kuala Lumpur."

"What's she doing there?"

"I'm not sure yet. But I made a background check on Mr. Thorne. It says that he has a villa there. There's a possibility she went there."

"I'll be on the first flight."

"Ok. Mark. I'll meet you there."

----

"Where are you going son?" Mark's mom is in the living room when she sees Mark coming down the stairs with a big bag on his shoulder.

"Malaysia." He doesn't stop to say goodbye, he walks straight out the door to his car.

"Mark? What? Wait." His mom is following close behind. "What are you doing there?"

"I think we found her."

"Elysa? Is she alive? Oh my God." She paces frantically. "Let me call your father."

Before she could even take her phone out, Mark's car is out the gate.

After what seemed like ages, Mark finally gets out of KL International Airport. He heads straight to the hotel where the PI and six other men are waiting.

"What have you got?" Mark asks them.

"She's in there. But the house is guarded."

"Shit. How can we get her out of there?"

"I've already phoned in the police. They plan on making a buy-bust operation."

"What? How about Elysa? Is she going to be in trouble? I mea...." Ugh...he can't think right now. He's just too worried that something might happen to her. He's been looking for her for a long time. Finally, he's found her...but she's in danger.

"It depends on how deep she is in this group. I promise you," the PI puts his hand on Mark's shoulder, "we'll get her out of there. We'll hide her if we need to."

Mark just wants her safe and in his arms.

One man who had been on the phone since Mark arrived finally hangs up. "She's out. She's meeting with the undercover right now."

"Is she alone?"

"Yes."

"We need to get her before the police does." Mark doesn't want to see her in jail.

"Where is she?" the PI knows exactly what Mark is thinking. They have to get her out or else she'll end up behind bars.

"She just left the villa five minutes ago."

"Let's go," Mark is the first to get out the door. He can't lose this chance again.
