Kyle's POV
I can't believe Taylor talked me into this. But yet again, I'm on a plane, only this time with Taylor on my way to Michigan. He convinced me that since my surgery is in a couple weeks, and I can't be there for Christmas, that I should go now. He even helped me pick out what to buy the three of them since I remember them all at different ages.
Catherine got a a dessert cook book, and a new apron. Jack got some soccer equipment, since apparently he plays both soccer and baseball. I didn't know that. Then Jess got some cute skirts and shoes that I hoped she didn't have. Taylor said she liked them. I also got Jess a really fluffy Teddy bear. I won't lie, I wanted it for myself. It wasn't huge, but it was so soft.
We just got through our checking and all of that, and now we're waiting to board the plane.
This is a horrible idea. I sign to him.
"Oh come on its an amazing idea. I know Jess can read, Jack can obviously read. And so can Catherine. I know they miss you." Taylor smirks at me. I just smile and shake my head. The intercom goes off, and thankfully Taylor knows that it's our flight, because I already forgot the number.
We board the plane, and thankfully sit beside each other.
Can I have the window seat? Keith never lets me. Taylor smiles and nods. I slide in and he joins me.An elderly couple sits on his other side, though he doesn't mind. I bring my legs up and cross them. I just find it more comfortable. Something pokes my cheek and I look over.
"I bought these new double set headphones. For two people." He grins dorkily. It's cute. I accept them eagerly and he chuckles. When the plane takes off, I stare out the window. Watching as people turn to specks, buildings disappear within the clouds. I can't help but take my phone out and take a couple photos.
"Gonna make some bad tumblr aesthetic?" Taylor teases. I smile and nod. He laughs. The music is just loud enough so I can hear it, but can also hear him."Are you nervous?" He asks. I nod.
I don't even know what they'll look like. He just smiles again and unlocks his phone.
"Luckily for you, I have photos. We went to Florida, both families for spring break. And I have photos." He starts to show me.There's one of me, Catherine, I assume Jack and Jess, all playing in the water. He scrolls, the next a photo of Jack, me, Jess, and three unfamiliar people as well as him.
"That's my step siblings. That's Karen, Alex, and Ryan." He points to each. I nod. He scrolls again, and its Ryan and I sharing a bed. My eyes widen.
"Your a deep sleeper. But I had to get a photo of that." He chuckles. I playfully slap his shoulder. The next one is of him and I, kissing, no making out, on a wooden log on the beach, the water at our feet. He quickly scrolls by that one, but I catch his wrist. I swipe back to see the photo again.
You don't have to be embarrassed that we dated. I'm not. I sign to him. His eyes widen."I j-just thought it'd make you uncomfortable." He rubs his neck. A habit of his. I rest my head on his shoulder. He tenses, then relaxes. He continues to show me photos.
Before I realize it. The plane has landed. He swipes his phone one last time, and I see a picture of me looking caught off guard wearing my reading glasses. He laughs at that one.
"That was the second day I met you. You were so mad that I took that. We were in math class." He smiles to himself."You don't find it like really creepy that I still have photos of you, do you?" He asks nervously as we collect our luggage. Did I?
Honestly, I didn't even think about it. I tell him. Relief floods his face and he nods. Accepting the answer.Who's picking us up? I ask.
"Catherine." My eyes widen. He pats my shoulder as a form of comfort.
"Relax. She's ecstatic to see you." He smiles.
