Taylor's POV

Today was the day. It was Christmas Eve. Kyle was getting his surgery done in less then an hour. I was with him in the hospital room.

I'm scared. He signs.
"I know. But you shouldn't be. You've met the doctor, and if your dad trusts him, I really think you should too." I offer him a smile, one he shakily returns.

Will you be here when I wake up? He asks.
"Of course I will. Oh, don't forget to take off your ring. You can't have it during the surgery." I point at the ring on his middle finger. The same ring I gave him. He nods and tugs it off with a bit of a struggle.
Can you hold onto it? He asks. I nod and he passes it over. I slip it into my front pocket.

Abby and Abraham walk in. They both take a seat on the chairs on either side of him, considering I'm sitting at the foot of the bed.
"You nervous?" Abraham asks. He signs ad he speaks, to include Abby. That's nice.

Kyle nods.
Don't give me the "i don't need to be nervous" speech, Taylor just finished his. I stick my tongue out at him and Abraham and Abby laugh. The doctor walks in.

"So we need to sedate you now, and shave a bit of your head. Because of wear it is, we can actually shave it so you just have that quarter of your head shaved, it'll actually look more like it on purpose once the stitches go away." The doctor says. Kyle nods and the doctor walks over.

He shaves that bit of Kyle's head, and I got to be honest; I thought it was going to look bad. But nope, he looks hot as hell like that. He feels the recently shaven spot and frowns.
"It looks good actually. I kinda had the same thoughts on it as you did." I tell him. He playfully glares at me.

I pull out my phone and open the camera so he can see his new hair cut, and the doctor pushes the IV into his arm. He tilts his head a bit, getting a feel for it, before nodding.

Then his eyes begin to close.

"And, he's out. I'm going to have to ask you to move now." The doctor says and I nod. I climb off the bed and he wheels him out of the room. Abby notices the spare bed.

Do you think they would care if I had a nap? Abby signs.
Don't know. Hang on. Abraham signs. I feel slight pride at now being able to understand what they're saying. Abraham gets up and pokes his head out.

"Nurse? Is it alright if we sit on the other bed?" The nurse Abraham is talking to says something that I don't hear.
Yea Abby, go ahead. Abraham signs. She nods and walks over. She looks tired.
"Had an all nighter with one of the friends." Abraham says.

"Ah. So how does that work? Do her friends know sign language?" I ask.
"She goes to a school for kids that are blind, deaf, stuff like that. Because a lot of the time they get bullied in regular schools. And when that happened to her, I instantly pulled her out of her public school. One of her friends is deaf, but has a hearing aid to help that he got last year. So he knows sign language, and another friend just writes for the two of them. She doesn't go there, though she was one of her only friends in the regular public school." Abraham explains.

"Ah alright." I nod.
"You nervous?" He asks.
"Incredibly." I pull out the ring.
"He doesn't know this right now. But you've seen him wear this ring right?" He nods.
"I gave it to him as a promise ring. I love him. He got me out of an abusive relationship, literally took a bullet for me, was there when I met my step family, was there when I had nightmares about my past relationship, paid for my friends that were back in Orlando to travel up and stay with me for a week, and they in turn, brought my brother back from war." I tell him, playing with the ring.

Abraham whistles.
"At least I know your good for him. When he remembers, you hold onto him tight." Abraham says.
"Honestly, I couldn't think of anything else." I tell him. He smiles at me.
