On The River (In The Water Passage To HottlandShadows engulfed the boat the further they sailed from the half oval shaped entrance, the light that was once present got softer and softer until it was consumed into darkness.
The water passage was like a ghostly subterranean realm, or some oppressing narrow tomb to another world.
Sedimentary rock and limestone lined the interior of the tunnel in indigo waves, and only other life was the moss among moist rocks, it ghost-quiet as boat moved unhurried against the weak current. Water occasionally lapped against the little wooden boat cutting the deafening silence as it burbled against the hull.
Stalagmites hung like decorations on the rough bumpy ceiling as water droplets dripped down from them and fell into the water, which reeked of soggy soil.
Two figures are seen riding the boat and are seen by the light pouring into the tunnel's entrance that and gradually died off as they advanced, Undyne and the River Person.
Undyne readily stood on the back of the boat with her arms crossed, and her eyes were fixed on the hooded figure hawkishly like she was sizing him/her up.
The River Person was standing in the front conducting the boats movements carefully. Their head bent slightly looking at the water below on a psychological pursuit, and drained of all enthusiasm.
Undyne finally spoke cutting through the silence in an obnoxious tone, "Are ya' the Grim Reaper or somethin'?"
The River Person turned the boat slowly still trying to process why that was said, "What....?"
Undyne shrugged her shoulders prematurely, "Just asking' ya got the look for it."
He\she looked town at their long closed atramentous garments, "These are just my robes...Tra, la?"
"Yeah!" Her voice exploded, "You look sick in em'!"
"Excuse me?" It was completely bewildered by the compliment.
"Can I borrow your sick scythe?" She swatted and rose back up with growing enthusiasm, "That'll be bad ass!"
This only made he/she even more mentally disoriented, "Ma'ma?"
"You know!" She made a quick chopping movement with her hand, " Slicing and dicing things!"
"I'm not the Grim Reaper..." He/she went on in an hushed tone, which sounded like they wanted to be left alone.
Undyne immediately shot back, "You're lame." The two were silent, until Undyne opened her mouth to say something.
"Then what's the reason to wear that robe?" She inquired getting in his face.
The River Person felt uncomfortable, so they lurched back slightly, "I'm just sensitive to sun light. "
Light flooded back into the royal guard captain's eyes, "FUHAH!" The River Person flinched at Undyne's passionate amused cry, "So you're a vampire!"
"No." He/she said bluntly and dampened Undyne's spirit, making her withdrawal and cross her arms.
"Why can't you been anything cool!?" She puffed her bottom lip over her top, "Why do you wear that then?"
He/she looked straight into the water, "I... Just like it."
"Ya' look like you work at some graveyard." She said bluntly.
The hooded figure inspected the robes they wore again, "I always thought it looked fitting."
"If ya' were the ferry man to the Hades that get up would prove a point, but you're obliviously not it." Undyne scoffed.
