Chapter 19

As I was still dry heaving in the trash can I felt someone move my hair and rub on my back. I recoiled from his touch, I didn't want him to be touching me, I didn't want sympathy from him. I saw a glass of water appear in front of my face.

"Here have a drink of water" Zack said quietly.

I quickly glanced at Zack's face and could see hurt and worry across it. I quickly gluped down the water. Hopeing it wouldn't be makeing a reappearance anytime soon. I set the cup down on the counter and walked back over to the table. Everybody was stareing at me. Zack came back over and took his seat by me.

"You ok?" Papa Gates asked

"Yeah just dandy" I replied sarastically

Papa Gates just shook his head and sighed.

"Anyway's can we just get back onto the subject at hand?" I asked, just wanting this conversation to get done with.

"Right, so as you know Emma we've have been advised that your brother Bryce..." Papa Gates started, but I rudely cut him off.

"He. Is. Not. My. Brother" I ground out, between clenched teeth "He lost his right to be called my brother the night he tried to kill me and Tyler, and killed our parents"

"Alright, well than we have been advised that Bryce has been spotted in Huntington Beach" Papa Gates stated

"What does that have to do with Zack cheating on me?" I asked, with a raised eyebrow.

I heard Zack sigh next to me

"Emma what you need to realize is that I have been provided with information that we have two traitor's amongest us" Papa Gates said.

When Papa Gates said that it felt like the air had literally been sucked out of the room. I felt like I couldn't breath, this is not something we had discussed earlier. 'Why didn't he tell me earlier? Who had betrayed me?' I thought. I looked around at the people in the room and tried to figure out who would betray me.

"W-what do y-you m-mean?" I stuttered out.

"No, no, no I didn't mean it like that Emma" Papa Gates said quickly, realizeing what I had thought about it being one of them.

"I have been handed information being the head of the unit. That my secretary Kelsey, was hired by your brot...Bryce to provide him information about you. Also one of your agents is suspected in provideing him information about you and the whereabouts of Tyler to Bryce" Papa Gates said, looking directly at me.

So I could understand the sevearity of the situation. But believe me I understood it. I couldn't believe this information I was finding out. I couldn't believe that, that, that, I couldn't even think of a name to call her and I refused to call her by her name. Would stoop to that level, well actually yeah I could. And one of my own agents that I checked in with would betray me like that. I mean honestly what's in it for them, what could they possibly gain from endangering mine and Tyler's lifes.

I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw Zack watching me intently. Than everything started to click with me, like a light switch had been thrown on. But I wanted to make sure.

"What does that have to do with Zack?" I whispered.

I think everyone was shocked by my question.

"Remember earlier when I said not everything may be the way it seems?" Papa Gates asked. I nodded at him.

"When I recieved the information I called Zack, Matt and Jimmy into my office, to discuss the option's" Papa Gates said

"Why wasn't I informed?" Brian snapped, and glared at his dad.

"Because son your too emotionally involved in the situation and knew you wouldn't even discuss thing's rationally. That you would just want to go in guns blazeing" Papa Gates sighed.

"Too emotionally involved? Of course I would be emotionally involved. Thats my sister your talking about" Brian stated

I felt a lump form in my throat from Brian calling me his sister again.

"And why was Zack informed? I mean wouldn't he especially be considered 'too emotionally involved'? For that matter goes the same for Matt and Jimmy to" Brian snapped again.

"Son, Zack was informed because Emma is his wife. Plus he is one of the best at what he does. As for Matt and Jimmey they were informed seeing as they are more level-headed than you Brian" Papa Gates said.

"Plus I knew that even though Matt and Jimmy consider Emma a sister. That they would be able to seperate their feeling's and focus at job at hand" Papa Gates said, looking at Brian.

"Emma what you need to understand is that I asked Zack to play a part. Infact Jimmy, Matt, Zack, and I all discussed and considered the consequences of our plan. When we weighed all the pro's an con's, the pro's won. And Zack accepted the job I presented to him" Papa Gates stated, looking back at me.

I felt Zack grab my hand and look deeply into my eyes.

"Baby I did it to protect you" Zack said
