En : Hello. How's your day..?
09:00pm
Marcus : Hi.
Marcus : Okay lang.
En : Hala!
En : Ako lang ba o... Bakit parang ang tamlay mo..? :(
Marcus : Haha. Kumain ka na?
En : Oo. Ikaw?
Marcus : Tapos na. I'm in my room now.
En : E... Anong problema?
En : Sabihin mo sa kin..?
Marcus : Galing ako kay Dad. Hindi na nga ako nakapagsimba.
Marcus : Birthday pala ni Tita Patty. They have guests.
En : A...
Marcus : We did discuss about Mom's 40th day memorial. But it looked like, I will be alone for it.
Marcus : Again.
En : E!
En : Bakit?
En : Bakit mag-isa ka lang?
Marcus : They will be leaving next week. Turned out, they both thought that a change of environment might help Dad recover faster.
Marcus : They just invited me kanina para humingi ng consent.
Marcus : Haha. It's kinda funny to be giving consent to my Dad.
En : Anong sabi mo?
Marcus : Pumayag ako. He needs it.
Marcus : Tingin din ng therapist niya, makakatulong. My Dad loves nature. And Tita Patty lives on the countryside.
Marcus : They might live outside the Metro for a long time.
En : Anong sabi ng Dad mo tungkol sa memorial?
Marcus : Yun nga e. Actually... he kind of... cried on me kanina.
Marcus : He said sorry. Slowly. With his mouth almost immovable because of the stroke.
Marcus : I had to lean on him and focus intently to really hear him.
Marcus : And when he said the words... about how sorry he was to me and to Mom...
Marcus : About all his shortcomings and absences...
Marcus : About everything...
Marcus : Ewan ko. Parang namatayan ako uli.
Marcus : Haha. Weird.
En : I don't know what to say.
Marcus : Ako rin naman... Haha.
Marcus : I guess, that's what family does to us, no?
Marcus : No matter what kind of person we think we are, no matter how strong we think ourselves are, or no matter what kind of resentment we think we might have, family still gets to us. Claws on us. Holds upon us.
Marcus : I think I might be resenting him less now because of what happened to him and because of his apology... but I'm also sad, too. B
Marcus : Because that apology feels like our bond as father and son, the last strand holding us together, is breaking.
