CALUM POV
"I'm sorry Uncle Kent." I apologized to him as we got into the house. "It's fine Calum, I'm sure Lucy understands." He assured me. I felt relief but he turned to me, "However we're going to have to have some rules. One, be careful and appropriate, Mr. Beaufork needs to be scandal free, and two, make sure you use protection, even if it means asking me for it." He said seriously. I cringed at that thought but appreciated my uncle. "Thanks Uncle Kent." I told him appreciatively.
A few hours later I was spread out on the couch watching television when I heard Uncle Kent talking seriously on the phone. "No I haven't..... I will be right over..... I'll have Calum look out..." I heard as I entered the kitchen where he was standing. Uncle Kent hung up and looked at me solemnly, "What's up?" I asked. "It looks like Scarlett has left the white house and managed to slip through the front gates." He said, running his fingers through his hair.
"Let me call her." I said, pulling out my phone. "Calum, she left her phone." Uncle Kent said. I felt my heart drop, "Well why are we standing here? We have to go get her before something happens to her!" I said, very scared. "Calum, you need to stay here and wait to see if Scarlett comes here. I need to head over to the house and we're starting our search." He told me. "I need to find her though!" I protested. Uncle Kent shook his head, "Calum you have to stay here and see if she comes here." Uncle Kent repeated, "But-' I started but he shook his head again. "No Calum. Stay here and see if she comes back, I'm heading out, and I'll call you as soon as anything happens." He promised, quicckly heading out the door.
I sighed and started pacing around the floor, and I couldn't help but call her, hoping she might just answer.
SCARLETT POV
The streets were quiet which surprised me. I had been wandering the streets for about an hour now, and it was starting to get dark, the first streets lights started to flick on. I sighed, I knew I was going to be in so much trouble but I had no clue where Calum's house was, so I knew I had to turn back. The only problem was, I had no idea where the hell I was.
I turned around, and attempted to retrace my steps. I was walking slowly, hoping I was taking the right steps when I heard a crash behind me. I jumped and started to walk a bit faster when I heard a soft cry for help. "Help please!" A quiet voice said. I turned around to where the sound of the crash came from and saw a young guy of about twenty five on the ground under a bike. "I hurt my leg." He said and I slowly walked closer to him.
I went to take the man's hand to help him up when he threw me down with full force. "What are you doing?" I screeched when the man whipped out a gun. "Gimme your wallet, now!" He ordered, pointing the gun at me. I was paralyzed with fear, my back throbbing from being thrown to the ground. "I don't have it on me." I said weakly. I was in such a rush to get away from my mom that I forgot both my wallet and phone. "Bullshit!" He snarled, kicking me in the ribs. "I'm telling the truth." I peeped, tears streaming down my face.
"The necklace then." He said, poking at the shiny, gem filled pendant on my neck. "Please no! My grandmother gave it to me." I begged. He leaned down and pulled me up to a sit by grabbing the front of my shirt, and smacked me hard across the face. "I will blow your brains out bitch! Hand over the fucking necklace!" He screamed, pointing the gun straight in front of me. Whimpering, I quickly pulled the pendant off and put it into his large, dirty hands. "Please, let me go." I begged, my voice in a whisper. He smacked me again, the stinging on the left side of my face was painful. "Shut up, and count to ten." He ordered. I did what I said, and in that time the man had run off.
I slowly brushed myself off, and stood up. I felt a stabbing pain in my ribs and my face felt like it was already starting to bruise. I trudged slowly in the direction I came from, and continued on.
CALUM POV
It's been over two hours and Uncle Kent still hasn't called me. Where was she? Was she okay? Thoughts kept swirling around in my head, and I couldn't help but feel useless about everything. I was pacing around the living room for about the hundredth time when my phone rang. I sprinted to answer, "Is she okay? Have you found her?" I asked Uncle Kent urgently.
"Calum, calm down." Uncle Kent said. 'She's come home, but she was mugged and beat up pretty badly, so we took her to the hospital, I'm on my way there now." He said to me. My heart dropped at the thought of Scarlett hurt. "I'm going to meet you there." I said quickly, hanging up with Uncle Kent.
I hopped on the downtown bus and headed to the hospital, my feet flying to the hospital. I sprinted upstairs to the ICU, and found Uncle Kent in the lobby. "Uncle Kent!" I called jogging over. He hugged me, "Is she okay?" I asked worriedly. He nodded, "She has two broken ribs, a black eye, and some cuts and bruises, but other than that she's okay. There was no internal bleeding or any other trauma, she's staying overnight, but you can go see her." He told me.
I nodded and allowed him to lead me to Scarlett's room. When I saw her, I felt both relief and sadness. Scarlett was in a hospital gown, and her beautiful face had scratched and brown bruises littered all over it. "Scarlett" I breathed, heading over to her.
SCARLETT POV
When Calum came into the room, I felt happiness wash over me. He looked exhausted, his black hair was messy and matted, and he had bags under his chocolate brown eyes. "Scarlett." He whispered, his voice wobbly.
He sat down on the bed and I leaned up to hug him. My ribs hurt slightly from the hug, but I just wanted to be close to him. He stroked my hair softly, "I'm so glad you're okay. I was so scared Scarlett." He whispered. When we broke apart, I noticed his eyes were glossy, and there were a few stray tears that made their way out. I wiped them away with the pad of my thumb, "Hey, I'm okay Cal." I whispered to him, my hair going through his hair. "I just can't imagine what I would do if something had happened to you, Scarlett. I love you." He said, his voice raw.
I was taken by surprise but I felt my heart soar at his words, "I love you Calum." I replied, and he smiled, kissing my forehead.
