Bloodfall (An Undertale AU)

A tough start

(The first Chapter is in Sans' point of view in first person. I don't know if I'll continue this entire story in Sans' POV)

This is the one day that I wish that I could go back to and fix what I did wrong.

We were out of the underground, Frisk promised me that he would never reset and what happens....happens. I was so happy at first, no more resets, no more pain, no more insanity rushing to my mind. 

Insanity. God I hate that word. But I'm stuck with it. My rage eye is permanent.

I bet you're wondering what a Rage eye is. Well, have you ever seen my blue eye that pops up every now and then? Usually when I'm mad or sad? Well that's MY rage eye. Well I better explain it in detail about what it does, make it easier on y'all. A Rage Eye can be obtained through a being that had just died, but their determination made them refuse to die. You need an extent of a single emotion mixed in with that determination, then BOOM! You come back to life with a ring of color around the eye of what hand you are strongest with. In my case, it's my left eye. It continuously grows if you feel a huge amount of the emotion you were revived with. Me? Well it grows whenever I'm in a huge depression. The growth comes in stages, stage one is kind of when you just woke up with that ring around your eye. It goes up to ten, if it hits stage ten, then you could lose control of your mind completely and be considered insane. I was at Stage four before the worst day of my life. 

Heh, I bet you're wondering exactly 'what' was the worst day of my life. Well I guess that I should explain. Take a seat, I'll explain everything.

It was around a month after we left the underground. The eight of us, being me, Papyrus, Frisk, Toriel, Asgore, Undyne, Alphys and Mettaton, we all lived in the same house. The house was huge so none of us would worry about it being too crowded. We all were so happy. Well.....almost. I was with Papyrus, Undyne and Alphys. It was kind of weird for me to be around Alphys, we did once date before, but we broke up....kind of. I'll save that story for another time.

"So then, I speared the fuck out of that human! Man was it gory!" Undyne said, she always loved to tell graphic and gory stuff about her time in the Royal guard.

Alphys and Papyrus seemed to give horrific stares, but just nodded to be polite. I wanted to brighten the mood so I said.

"So I guess you wanted spearkiddy that night huh?" I joked, Undyne and Alphys gave a snicker, Papyrus was obviously pissed off. He always hated my puns.

"SAAAAAAAAAAAAAANS! QUIT IT WITH YOUR PUNS!" 

I couldn't help but laugh. I decided to make a pun about his name "Hey Pap! Why are you in such a Papy-RUSH? You should just eat some Pa-PIE-rus!" 

Papyrus then whacked me across the head with a harmless bone. It kind of hurt but luckily for me, it didn't do damage. I continued with the puns in a fit of laughter and joy. I could tell that Undyne and Alphys quickly got bored with them as Papyrus was gritting his teeth in anger. 

I overdid it. After what was probably two dozens of puns, Papyrus smashed the floor with a bone attack "NGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

I laughed some more, but soon stopped as Papyrus grabbed me and slammed me onto the floor. "I AM SICK OF YOUR SHIT SANS! I WORK MY FUCKING ASS OFF EVERY DAY AS YOU SLACK OFF AND TELL STUPID PUNS JUST TO PISS ME OFF!" He snapped at me. Never before have I been so shocked about Papyrus' voice, I mean, yeah he's loud, but I never heard him snap like that before. 

"I'M SICK OF BEING STUCK WITH A WORTHLESS PILE OF TRASH! I WISH THAT YOU STAYED DEAD WHEN YOU GOT YOUR RAGE EYE YEARS AGO!" Papyrus snapped. Those words just left me speechless. The girls stared at Papyrus in horror, Undyne was especially shocked, she thought of Papyrus as innocent and nice. This was over the line. Before anyone else could say anything. Papyrus stormed off. 

I felt bad now. What he said was true, all I do is sit around and make puns as he works his ass off. I should apologize to him. I know that he didn't mean what he just said, I'm his brother, he'll always come back to me. 

If only what I thought was true.

The next day, Papyrus still didn't come home. Everyone was starting to get worried, I mean, he'll usually come back before dark. I should have gone after him last night, I could have avoided what happened. Sorry....I'm getting off track. 

A few hours after, there was a knock on the door. I decided to be the one to open the door, half-expecting that Papyrus locked himself out.

Oh how wrong I was.

Two royal guards, or in this world's case, swordmasters, one named Jayden, the other named Lewis, were at my door. Neither of them had a bright look on their usually bright faces. I mean, Jayden was always lively.

"Sans. There is something we need to tell you." Jayden said. Now I'm gonna be honest, I can never tell where Jayden comes from. His accent is all over the place, the fact that he speaks five languages doesn't help either.

"What is it?" I asked. I don't know why I didn't think of what they would have said. I bet you've all guessed it by now.

"There was a rockfall on Mt. Ebott....we checked in case if anyone got stuck in the rockfall. We had to get to the Underground to do so. We found....something...." Jayden explained, kind of hesitantly.

"Okay? Why are yo-.........." I had just clicked in "No...." My rage eye lit up.

The two of them looked at each other before Lewis pulled out something. Surely enough, it was Papyrus' bright red scarf, it was a bit shredded.....it had dust on it too. Papyrus' dust. I shakily took the scarf as I fell to my knees and cried uncontrollably. The huge amounts of sadness raised my Rage eye to Stage 5, half-way to insanity.

Jayden went on one knee and gave a gentle pat on by back as he hugged me "I'm sorry Sans....I would have stopped him from going there if I knew of the rockfall sooner..." Jayden told me. I bet he felt guilty due to one of his abilities that failed to activate. 

I didn't blame him, I blamed myself. I made him storm off. I made him mad. I sent my brother to his own death.
