Chapter Fifteen
“Who told you?”
I sighed, so it was true then. Michael is my father, but Alexandra had said that we were half-sisters so who was her father?
“No one,” I lied.
Michael gave me a stern look, “Do not lie to me Evelyn”.
I shrugged, “Does it matter? You lied to me all my life”.
Michael suddenly looked hurt and defeated, “Please Evelyn, don’t blame me, I did this to protect you, I’m trying to keep you safe”.
I frowned, “Safe from what?”
He looked around, once noticing nothing threatening he spoke, “The demons want your blood”.
“My blood?” I asked in confusion.
He nodded, “Yes your blood Eve, you’re…special”.
“What about Laura?” I asked.
Michael shook his head, “You’ve said it before; she’s possessed”.
I tilted my head, “But…it still doesn’t explain anything”.
He sighed, “Not now Eve, we can’t talk out here in the open”.
I swallowed, “Then in private?”
He shook his head, “No it’s too dangerous Eve, they’re after you; they’ll trace you with my presence”.
I breathed in, “How is the lord?”
Michael looked away, “He’s devastated”.
I nodded, “Send word that I’m fine”.
Michael nodded, “Of course Eve”.
I glanced up at the dark sky, it was getting colder by the second making my skin go all prickly. Instantly I felt a familiar aura in the air, turning around I saw Lucifer, standing in his human form leaning against the brick wall, watching Michael with vicious eyes.
Michael’s voice, which was just a moment ago calm, was now cruel, “What brings you here demon?”
Lucifer smirked, but it was an unkind smile, “Jealous much Michael?”
Michael’s hands balled up into fists, “I will never stoop as low of being jealous of a demon”.
“Leave then,” Lucifer spat out.
Michael laughed bitterly, ‘It’s a free world, or do you demons not learn of modern world culture?”
Lucifer glowered at Michael, “Don’t tempt me Michael”.
I frowned, “Would you both stop behaving like children?”
Michael glanced warningly at me, “Don’t meddle in this”.
Lucifer touched my arm, “Come Evelyn, it’s time to leave”.
Michael glanced at Lucifer with a death glare, “Leave her alone”.
I sighed, “I have to go bro— Michael”.
Lucifer smiled smugly at Michael.
“Don’t,” I warned.
“What?” Lucifer asked.
I rolled my eyes before making my way towards the alleyway where we were before. The war was going to start soon, and I needed to go back into hiding otherwise I’d be taken back to Heaven or worse Hell.
“He told you?”
I nodded, “Yes he admitted it”.
Lucifer gave me a look, “Why do I think you’re lying?”
