Chapter 24

Louis could hear the faint sound of their cover of Use Somebody coming from the living room as the rest of the group was watching the Up All Night DVD. He looked at his face in the mirror and took a deep breath. Hopefully no one noticed the bags under his eyes. He didn’t know how much longer he could stand idly by, and be so close to the one he’s so desperate for. That kiss he had shared with Ben so many days ago meant more than Louis could say. That was the most intimate he had ever been with Harry, and that was the problem. It wasn’t Harry. Ben’s lips moved differently than Harry’s. At least, one could only assume.

That’s what hurt the most. Everything that Ben had done wasn’t enough. It wasn’t Harry.

And Louis felt bad. Ben was so sweet, and so quiet. He never wanted anything bad to happen to the people that Harry cared about, and that alone was more than anyone could ever ask for.

He wiped his face with his hands, trying to get rid himself of all the pent up frustration filling his body. It all started today, when he saw Sydney. The girl herself had never done anything bad, except for the one thing that Louis had been questioning for a year.

Why had they kicked Harry out of the band?

That was what the fight was all about, wasn’t it? How Harry was kicked out of the band, even though the words they had told him were empty threats. What could Harry have done, to make them threaten him so drastically?

Louis tapped his fingers on the bathroom counter. Harry wasn’t a bad person. Nothing in the press had talked about anything he had done wrong, except when he lost his memory. Even then it wasn’t his fault.

A soft knock sounded on the bathroom door, making Louis jump. How long had he been stashed in the bathroom, clearing his thoughts?

“Is anyone in there?” A soft voice questioned. Louis’ heart stopped. It was Sydney. The very one who could answer all of his questions.

He pulled open the door, staring down at her with determination. He wasn’t going to back out of this one. Finding out the answer to this, might give him the answers he needs to get Harry back. Hell, no one was going to stop him.

“Oh! Louis! I didn’t realize that anyone was in-”

“Why did Modest kick Harry out of the band?” He demanded, trying to remind himself that Sydney had really done nothing wrong. It wasn’t her fault that she was just a representative of the big guns in corporate. But that didn’t stop Louis from taking out all of his anger on her.

She blinked in shock, “What?”

Louis didn’t even have time for a breath before continuing, “The day that Harry lost his memory. They had ‘kicked him out’… what for? What did he do?”
