After this chapter I will be taking names on people who want to be in the book from soldiers in the Mobile Bloxxers. Also, the more comments and votes I get, the quicker the next chapter gets here.
C.Corn and I returned to the hospital to find that all the dead Bloxxers had been moved to the lobby. The smell was wretched. Blood, burnt flesh, and electrocuted plastic filled the air to the top of the elevator shaft. Body's in the far corner, limbs in the close corner, along all the other random parts soaked in red goop and saltwater. As we got upstairs, the scene wasn't much better. The unconscious, mixed with the what seemed to be undead. The medics were moving double time to get the wounded soldiers feet, hands, and chunks of their heads put back on and attached correctly. Blood stained the walls, and the medics were run thin. Almost out of usable bandages, Cosl, who had just returned from the dazed scene of the disappearing VAKs, had called in a order for more supplies.
"Were is Block?" I asked one of the trainee medics who seemed to be pale from the sight of the dismantled soilders. He turned, glad for the excuse to get away from the carnage, he led us to a separate wing. In the last room Block was laying still unconscious, with a new IV stuck in his arm.
"Go help the others." I ordered Shokae, who was assigned to the General before I left. "Block, I will personally kill you if you got anything more then a concussion." I told the unconscious soldier as I checked his cat-scan and x-rays. "Hm... A broken wrist and a fractured ankle, not to bad."
An ear piercing scream came from the main wing. At that, I told Sonick, the rookie guarding Blocks room, to not let anyone in without my or Blocks permission. With that I sprinted down the hall towards the main wing. I turned into the room to see that Major Yam had gotten his pinkie finger blown off. It had already scabed over.
"...Yam, you do realize half the people laying around you on the floor now only have one leg right?" I accusingly asked the wide eyed commander. He looked at me with big puppy dog eyes and somehow managed a tear. I rolled my eyes at the pitiful commander and told one of the trainee medics to patch him up. The only medic in the room not busy hooking up an IV or replacing a limb walked over to yam, and started to operate.
Walking down the hall of windowed walls I looked out to see none other then one of the SH soldiers walking across the top of the monument. He looked down then with a small mirror flashed what look like Morse Code to another shadow on top of the hospital. I watched for a moment trying to figure out what they were saying to each other only to remember, I too was SH and should probably know this. Then the thought occurred to me that I was an intelligence officer, not a trooper. Sometimes being in charge has its down points.
"Poppy." Horatio commanded over the com.
"Yees?" I replied hoping for a reason to escape this horrid smell of the rotting living and the souring dead.
"Meeting, 4th floor of the main base, asap." Horatio sounded unappeased in the tone of voice, but then again, he is a very serious person.
"On my way." I replied gathering my stuff and telling Sonickabout the same thing as before. Leaving Cosl, Dog, and Shokae in charge of the over crowded hospital, I happily called for a skimmer escort.
"Skimmer 5 on my way ma'am." Replied the pilot of the responding ship. You could hear the engine starting up a few districts away. I looked around taking in the scene once again, the fires had all but died down, the blood pooled in cracks and craters left by nukes and rockets. Remnants of VAKs, MBs and tethered uniforms laying around in heaps, you could hear healthy commanders shouting at the groups who I figured were the assigned clean up crew. It was almost dark and I would soon have to send all my medics back to their barracks for the night.
As the skimmer arrived I found that Major S.Waffle was the pilot. He gave me a cheesy smile as I got into the skimmer and told him to head for the base. Only one other was in the skimmer, a sniper by the name Meruedin. He glanced up once, but kept his eyes onthe top of the monument most the time. I guess I wasn't the only one who had seen the mysterious shadow flashing the mirror.
"Everyone sit down." Commanded WAC sitting at the head of the table.Everyone did as he said almost immediately. "Okay so I know you all want answers, and you all want to know were the VAKs went today."He continued. He now owned complete and utter attention from the twenty Generals who were able to make it to the meeting....
"So that's how they did it..." Mumbled the bewildered Sqweebs. I laughed at the face he was making, wide eyes with one eyebrow cocked to a funny direction, I wasn't sure it was completely natural, but it sure was hilarious after such a stressful day. We walked to the third floor barracks to check up on the supposedly sleeping soldiers. We were all feeling stressed. Just to get to a laugh out of it we sent a cranky Blue to open the door and get onto the soldiers. We stood so close to the cafe we were almost inside of it when out of the soldiers barracks we heard Blue barking at the top of his lungs.
"GET YOUR SORRY BUTTS INTO BED AND SLEEP! IF YOUR NOT GOING TO SLEEP YOU CAN STAND OUTSIDE AND WAIT TILL THE VAKS COME BACK TO SLEEP! FOR ALL I CARE YOU CAN CLEAN AND FIX EVERY HOLE IN THE GROUND OUTSIDE! BY! YOUR! SELF!" Sqweebs, and I were sitting back at the cafe cracking up. I just wish I could have seen the look on that poor soal's face.
"Poppy, get back to your post."Said an annoyed R.Trooper over the com. Good to know everything was back to normal, my over-protective babysitter of a bodyguard must be on gate duty tonight. On nights of raids there were double the soldiers guarding the gates and D4. I grabbed a spare wasp off the wall and went back to the hospital, hoping at least half the mess was cleaned up so they could get to the patients much easier. - No such luck.
------------------Space Station Alpha-----------------
"What is the situation down there? " The figure stood tall, The General R.Mann was looking out the windshieldof the massive Alpha station. He had heard that the Capital had been attacked earlier that day, but he couldn't send any men due to the order sent threw the com from WAC that told him to keep his men on bored and with guns at all times. All the sudden from the lower belly of the station there was a huge THUD followed by groans of pain and a few hunks of twisted metal hitting the ground.
Down to the basement of the massive station R.Mann sent two men to check it out, Sargent DeltaSni and a new recruit. As they approached the jail. They got to the jail portion of ship to find the largest cell in the facility, ment to only hold three people at most, was holding more then 20 VAK troopers. The second largest cell, holding around 15 VAKs.
"Uhh... General? We may have a situation down here." Reported the Sergent looking at the VAKs who all look worn from battle.
"What is it?" Replied the general.
"We have VAKs..." Squirmed Deltasni as he looked from cell to cell.
"Disarm them, I will be right there "
The two soldiers did just that, making sure to zap the few that still held on tightly to their weapons. It took around thirty minuets to get both cells clear of weapons and the enemy's dispersed threw out the jail block so they wouldn't be jammed into two tiny cells. R. Mann arrived ten minuets in.
"So this is what WAC was planning..." He mumbled to himself, glares from each of the conscious VAKs who weren't trying to recover from a bullet wounds.
"what was that sir?" Asked the rookie as he escorted one of the remaining VAKs to an empty cell.
"Nothing, nothing," He quickly replied obviously deep in thought.
Don't you just love cliff hangers? Hah! and yes Sqweebs, I am useing authors notes!! Now your in my story >:D ~Poppy
